Slate Completely Misses the Point About Bush's Gaffes
http://slate.msn.com/id/2089154/

Defense: The reason everyone gets the joke when Bush fumbles his lines is that most of these lines are off by a single word: "is" instead of "are," "preservation" instead of "perseverance," "her" instead of "she." But that's also why these errors are insignificant. We know what Bush meant to say and that he simply got two words mixed up.

Conveniently, William Saletan and Avi Zenilman who "authored" this bit of gas, quote only the most innocently bone-headed malapropisms that people laughed about. They make no mention of Bush's worst gaffes, such as his claim in midsummer that the US only went into Iraq when Saddam wouldn't let UN inspectors in. What are they trying to be with this bit of fluff, "fair" or unfair?

2. Like using "preemptive" when the DoD definition means "imminent threat"

and later claiming you never said "imminent"?

Or just off on one number in a line that you just send your flunky out to "gaffe" for you.

i.e."

From Bush officials claim of April 23rd:

"Rebuilding will cost the American taxpayer, 1.7 billion tops."

To asking for 20 billion+ and the Vice President saying they'll ask for more.
