Bush Doesn't Care About Black People? How Can That Be? >>>

Polling Free-Fall Among Blacks

By Dan Froomkin

In what may turn out to be one of the biggest free-falls in the history of presidential polling, President Bush's job-approval rating among African Americans has dropped to 2 percent, according to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll.

The drop among blacks drove Bush's overall job approval ratings to an all-time low of 39 percent in this poll. By comparison, 45 percent of whites and 36 percent of Hispanics approve of the job Bush is doing.

3. And it looks like the African Americans can't stand Georgie-Boy either
A few months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found Bush's approval rating among blacks at 51 percent. As recently as six months ago, it was at 19 percent. Today it's at 2% -- his exit from office should be interesting -- a scumbag prez that will find out payback is going to be a super-bitch...!

The drop among blacks drove Bush's overall job approval ratings to an all-time low of 39 percent in this poll. By comparison, 45 percent of whites and 36 percent of Hispanics approve of the job Bush is doing.

Bush's bungled response to Hurricane Katrina -- seen by many blacks as evidence that he didn't care about them, allowing them to be in direct sunlight for 4 days with temps in the high 90's with no water?

Prediction: After Fitzgerald drops the hammer, we will be seeing Bush appear drunk with McClellan claiming the President is simply tired because of all the hard work he's endured since coming off of vacation.

5. Who Are The 2%?
@ 11:40 PM (9 hours, 19 minutes ago)

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows that George Bush's approval rating is at 39%.

It also showed that just 2 % of African-Americans approve of the job that Bush is doing.

On the Today show this morning, Matt Lauer and guest Tim Russert seemed surprised at this statistic, with Tim Russert remarking that he could not find a time when any President had received a measly 2% approval rating from African-Americans in a poll.

Well, this statistic has me somewhat baffled, too; 2% seems way too high for Bush, who has shunned the African-American community at almost every turn, refusing to meet regularly with the Congressional Black Caucus, and refusing to accept the NAACP's invitation to speak at their annual conferences. And then there's the matter that Bush just lost an entire city of predominantly African-Americans.

I'd like to find that 2%, and ask them why they support a 'President' (not a term I would use for Bushie) who clearly does not have their best interests in mind.

8. Republicans Had a Chance...
But They Made All the Wrong Choices for America

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- On Oct. 11, Ken Mehlman brought his standard sales pitch to the NAACP in Connecticut. But what Mehlman left out of his remarks is that African Americans, like all working Americans have done worse since President Bush has been in office. While Republicans say they are committed to outreach to the African American community, the reality is their policies have reduced opportunity and have hurt all hard working Americans. Under the Republican-controlled White House and Congress, African American unemployment is in the double digits, and the number of African Americans living in poverty has increased by 400,000 since 2002. Nationally, 1 million Americans dropped out of the middle class and fell into poverty in the year 2004 alone.

"The fact is, Republicans had their chance and they have made all the wrong choices for the American people," said Democratic National Committee Communications Director, Karen Finney. "While Ken Mehlman likes to claim that Republicans offer a viable alternative, the facts speak for themselves For too long the Republican Party has tried to court the African American vote, while they cut funding for small businesses, healthcare and education, and denied job training opportunities, and opposed affirmative action."

"The country is experiencing skyrocketing gas prices, a failed federal response in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and more than 1 million people have fallen into poverty just in the last year alone. America can do better. Instead of trying to divide the country, Republicans should join Democrats in uniting to protect the interests of all Americans."
