Need acronym guide!

All you old timers have used every one in the book I'm sure, but I am sometimes left out. Can you compile a list with definitions? I'll type it up and post on the wall. I'm sure all are great but I don't know what they are, I spend time guessing, like LMAO. Is this Laugh my A-- off? If not, I'm embarrassed. Thanks

Obviously, many used on this board are jargon of the in crowd. Sadly, this is one of humanity's annoying habits: making oneself feel more important by having a private language among a group of insiders.

People here are pretty accomodating though, so you can generally get a fairly quick and straight answer when you need it.

Acronymfinder is great for shorthand like ROTFLMAO.

What's truly silly is when people make up their own abbreviations that have unexpected connotations. One poster today was referring to Brewster Jennings, the front organization for spying on WMD proliferators as "BJ". Unless one's been living under a fundamentalist rock for the last few decades, "BJ" means blow job.

Any guesses?

The only traditionally valid (imho) acronyms date back to the days of the original Internet and the Usenet (text-only) newsgroups. In those days, bandwidth was precious. For the most common idioms, we used acronyms ... and NOBODY got confused, IYKWIM.
