Urgent request. "DU" Terry Harper. Demand retraction of Miller's award.
I am posting an abbreviated request that I received:

To: Terry Harper, Executive Director of the Society of Professional Journalists

Shame, shame on your decision to give Judith Miller a First Amendment Award.

She is a shill for the right wing war machine and her decision to go to jail has nothing to do with protecting sources.

1. here's mine!!
I recently read about your decision to give Judith Miller a First Amendment Award. I truly hope I am ill-informed, which would be ironic as Ms. Miller's readers are exactly that ..'ill-informed'. With the degree of skepticism the American public has in relation to media and government sponsored propaganda, do you really thing this is the right time to present such an award? Would it not be akin to the medals Mr. Bush hands out to those who fail basic competence? Please reconsider your choice.

New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who was jailed 85 days for refusing to reveal the source who disclosed the identity of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, is slated to receive a First Amendment Award Tuesday, RAW STORY has learned.

The award is being presented by the Society of Professional Journalists at a conference in Las Vegas. The Society is made up of some 1,100 independent writers.
