John Lennon: The Political and the Personal, 1981
you can listen to John at the Pacifica Radio archives website.

<clips>

Celebrating his birthday on October 9th, when he would have turned 65 years old.. "It doesn't help murderers to hang them, it doesn't help violent people to be violent to them. Violence begets violence. You can't kill off all the violent people or all the murderers or you'd have to kill off the government."

2. Quotes
John Lennon

If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that... I believe in what I do, and I'll say it.

I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohamed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.

I don't believe in killing whatever the reason!

I don't know which will go first - rock 'n' roll or Christianity.

If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace.

Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me.

Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it.

You either get tired fighting for peace, or you die.

Thank You John Lennon

3. These are great Berserker! I miss
John.

I like this one best "You either get tired fighting for peace, or you die." We must keep up the hope of peace and never stop trying.

Thanks!

7. Revolution
You say you want a revolution,
well, you know,
we all want to change the world.
You tell me that it's evolution,
well, you know,
we all want to change the world.
But when you talk about destruction,
don't you know you can count me out.
Don't you know it's gonna be alright.
Alright. Alright.

You say you got a real solution,
well, you know,
we'd all love to see the plan.
You ask me for a contribution,
well, you know,
we're doing what we can.
But when you want money for people with minds that hate,
all I can tell you is brother you have to wait.
Don't you know it's gonna be alright.
Alright. Alright.

You say you'll change the constitution,
well, you know,
we all want to change your head.
You tell me it's the institution,
well, you know,
you better free your mind instead.
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao,
you ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow.
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright.
Alright. Alright.

Alright. Alright.
Alright. Alright.
Alright. Alright.
Alright. Alright.

9. IMHO, John Lennon is correct on every single point listed! This entire
thread made me cry! I hadn't realized how much his death affected me...was too busy at the time, and really don't think about it much. He was a very good soul. I miss him too!

8. John Lennon's FBI Files
Didn't see the Lennon link at the site you provided.

Here's a clip from the site that has some of the FBI files.

<clips>

The FBI assembled around 300 pages of files on John Lennon in 1971-72, part of President Nixon's effort to deport Lennon to silence him as a critic of the war in Vietnam.

6. What about this quote?..
"Laurel and Hardy, that's John and Yoko. And we stand a better chance under that guise because all the serious people like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi got shot."
-- John Lennon

10. Great quotes everyone...
I was just in NYC this past Sunday on John's b-day. We went up to Strawberry Fields for the celebration. The place was packed and everyone was great. We all enjoyed the music and the gathering.
