Chinook Helicopters are loud
Just had one fly over my house, seemd like "thump thump thump thump" for five minutes.

Must have been heading for WPAFB that is only like 60 miles from my house.

1. Not as loud as a low-flying C-5 Galaxy
It felt like one of those was going to tear the roof off our house the other night. I was wondering if it was bringing more soldier's remain home to Dover AFB.

2. Try riding in one
Earplugs are mandatory. And the windows are very tiny, so it gets claustrophobic in back.

They also have one of the highest breakdown rates for military helicopters, earning them the nickname "shit hooks".
