Help with Boss's e-mail
I just received an e-mail from my boss that has the picture of the man with the "bullshit dtector ear covers" at the Bush's VFW speech. It is captioned as being from a Hillary Clinton Fund Raiser. Does anyone have a link that shows the image and its actual origin? I would love to reply back to him the truth about that photo.

3. Here's one from Snopes.com
Snopes.com is a website that is dedicated to exploring the truth behind, and debunking, if that information is verifiable, Urban Myths.

8. So there you go!
It appears that the ratbastards are playing Orwellian politics and trying to rewrite history by pinning the context of the picture on Democrats. As Snopes says...

"The photo originally accompanied news accounts of a speech delivered by President George W. Bush at the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Salt Lake City on 22 August 2005. War veteran Bill Moyer (pictured above) chose the occasion to display his displeasure with President Bush's policies by wearing a cardboard flap labeled "BULLSHIT PROTECTOR" over his ear during the President's speech. 11. That particular part of the story enrages me
That they would use the photograph completely out of context and misrepresent the events, should be unfortunately expected, but the gall! It makes me angry!

6. Post number 3 has the answer, but where does your boss get off sending
political emails to employees?

9. Someone should forward that email to the HR department
and have that boss talked to about misuse of company resources. Not only is the bosses' message inappropriate and incorrect, it's also distracting and annoying for him to be sending such messages internally.

10. Looks like s/he's in Texas
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 12:22 PM by DesertedRose
Having grown up there (and understanding the mindset of backwards-ass conservative Texans), his/her boss probably just assumed everyone there would agree with him/her.

Doesn't he/she actually have WORK to do? *sigh*

12. Its your boss ...be careful
I work for a a firm that is 95% Republican, and I deal with nonsense like that all the time. I come back at them here, but I have to be honest, when it's my boss that is talking smack...I tend to shut up.

Damn, that sounds wimpy I know...but I have a mortgage to pay and a family to raise.

Becareful.

14. Your boss is either a liar or a fool (or both).
That's not a good place to work!

15. A lying fool
and I agree. Not a good place if a person in a supervisory position things that sending a politically charged email that is bound to offend and is based on a misrepresentation is comfortable there.

16. You know it's stuff like this that makes me consider self-employment...
I went on a job interview the other day, and the lady who interviewed me went on and on about how Republican's are more business oriented, patriotic, and are more successful in entrepreneurial endeavors. She then went on to repeat the bullshit mantra of wanting less government in their lives, blah, blah, blah. As my arguments for her talking points welled up on my tongue (which I held), I knew right then that I couldn't work for her. I could barely endure her smug, sanctimonious, tone for an hour interview... Lord knows how I'd get through an entire day!

17. Thanks for the help with this
My boss is really a nice guy. He considers himself a financial conservative, small gov't, low taxes, unregulated commerce, etc. We agree on most of the social issues. He thinks gov't has no business telling you what to do. I think he would have voted Democrat in '04 if someone besides Kerry had of run. In his words, "I was dodging bullets while he was testifying before congress that I was a monster". We have a lot of political discussions that are usually pretty respectful. I get in as many Republican digs as he gets at Democrats. This one really got to me though, because I knew it was during a Bush speech. My boss just shrugged it off, and said he wasn't surprised about the true origin of the photo. I explained to him, "Remember when GW was trying to wipe out Social Security & Veterans' benefits? This picture was taken then."

Once again thanks for everyone's help. I called you "my crack research team" when I told my husband what I was up to.

Yes I do live in Texas, rural West Texas, and it is very red here. I'm seeing improvement though. I also live in the district that lost Charles Steinholm (D) because of Delay's redistricting. We lost one of the most respected senior representatives in Congress, so Delay isn't very popular here.

18. What is it with guys who send BS emails, and aren't embarrassed at all
when they are totally debunked and in fact shown to be the opposite of what was represented?

"Shrugged off". I'd at LEAST be really embarassed!
