Mexican Immigrants Not Burdening ERs, Study Says
(this is gonna piss off a lotta freepers...)

Recent immigrants from Mexico are half as likely to use emergency rooms as U.S.-born whites and Mexican Americans, according to a study released Thursday by the University of California and the Mexican government.

Fewer than 10% of recent Mexican immigrants — whether they came in legally or not — reported using an emergency room in 2000, according to the study, based on an analysis of the U.S. National Health Interview Survey conducted in 2000 by a unit of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"The study breaks a lot of the myths…. There are assumptions that immigrants are breaking the economy by using emergency rooms," said Xochitl Castaneda, director of the California-Mexico Health Initiative, an arm of the California Policy Research Center based at the UC Office of the President.

On a per-capita basis, immigrants accounted for 55% less in healthcare expenditures than what was spent on U.S.-born patients, according to an analysis of a federal survey of healthcare spending in the late 1990s. The study, which included legal and illegal immigrants, was led by Dr. Sarita Mohanty, a professor at USC's Keck School of Medicine. "Our study refutes the assumption that immigrants represent a disproportionate financial burden on the U.S. healthcare system," Mohanty's article concluded.

2. This whole thing would not be an issue
if universal healthcare existed in America, and if anyone who lived and worked legally could access it.

Far fewer ER visits for both Americans and immigrants.

Preventive care is the best... When I lived in NYC and did some hospital volunteer work, I was appalled at all the low-income (usually) minorities who waited until the last minute to come in - and ended up leaving the hospital dead.

3. you can till the Mexican are going to flood in.. when Walmart puts up an
entire isle of mexican food.. having only seen 2 in a year here in the south.. 2 weeks after the isle showed up in Walmart they are Everywhere...!!

is there a coordinated plant to more evenly distribute them to prevent backlash..??

when 3,500 a month showed up in Atlanta and the city decided to build a 2.5 dollar facility to provide an illegal mexican day labor site..and there was no day labor for whites and blacks.. the shit hit the fan and then the mexican problem disappeared off the radar and the media...
this looks like the result.. coordinated migration.. but it cant be considered migration.. cause they are not flying home in the fall. Mexico is exporting their poverty here to raise the standard of living for the 'Haves' in mexico which already have a standard of living second only to France.. 10% of the population of mexico has moved to the usa.
