Woman tries to steal unborn child
By A Correspondent

A woman has been charged with cutting open her pregnant neighbour’s belly with a razor knife to try to steal her baby. The attack was thwarted when a passer-by saw what was happening and called the police.

-snip-

Peggy Jo Connor, 38, of Ford City, Pennsylvania, hit Ms Oskin over the head with a baseball bat then drove her about 15 miles (25km) to a wooded area in Armstrong County, about 50 miles (80km) northeast of Pittsburgh, then cut her across her abdomen, Jonathan Bayer, a state trooper, said. “She was sliced over an old Caesarean scar and severely bleeding,” he added.

2. believe it or not
Michael Savage went on a 5 minute tirade about this last night in which he ended up blaming liberal lawyers that sue the Catholic Church over priest abuse scandals. I thought the repukes were all about personal responsibility. In that case wouldn't it be the fault of the crazy woman with the razor knife

8. I think it was Michael Savage's over air fantasies and rages at fault.

3. 15 or so years ago
my Sis and Mom were agog with a local story about an Albuquerque woman who'd done the same thing. Except, she'd opened the mother with a set of CAR KEYS. The baby lived, the mom didn't. I would've thought it was an urban legend (Skin is tough. Imagine cutting something a shade softer than a football with keys), but she had a trial and went to prison. Sick and far-fetched as it is, it seems there really is little new under the sun.

4. I remember that one...horrible...
...another reason why our country needs to pay MUCH more attention to mental health care.

12. Aren't we the lowest where it concerns mental health?
No wonder our country is so fucked up. I think this story was earlier this year unless it's another one. The neighbors of this woman claimed she couldn't have done it because she was a "good Christian woman".

7. I can remember two others in the last ten years.
There was one case like this in the Chicago suburbs maybe nine years ago, and then another one like two years ago but I don't know where. Weird.

5. A very similar incident happened near me last year
here in northern Missouri, Very sad. Unfortunately the young mother died. I was shocked to learn how common this type of assault is. What to hell gets into people? How, in this day and age does someone think they can get away with this?

9. Lots of late term mothers end up missing
You read about it all the time. I wonder if sometimes this is not what happens to them.

11. Don't have silly worries. You don't help yourself or your sister that way.
Your sister is more likely to be struck by lightning and far more likely to slip showering.

13. OMG - I need to get her some of those bathtub floor grip things!!!
:P

I know what you mean, but it just freaked me out that the thought even crossed my mind, and she lives in PA where this happened. I am not one to act the victim when I am not the victim, it's just sad that this shit happens :(

Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 01:36 PM by meganmonkey
I didn't word my previous post well - she is in State College, so it's pretty far from Ford City...And for the record, I am not really worried about it, it just freaked me out for a second
