Can you help identify the people in this photo taken at the 9/24 march?
I took this photo at the march last month. Of course I know Rev. Jackson, Ms. Sheehan, and Rev. Sharpton, but who is the man next to Rev. Jackson? Who is the woman flashing the peace sign next to Rev. Sharption? Anyone know?

3. The man standing next to Jesse Jackson is a Gold Star Parent. His
son died in Iraq and I don't recall his name right now, but he does go around the country talking against the war.

5. the man next to Jackson
I recognize the hispanic man next to Jackson as the father
of the first marine killed in Iraq. I videotaped his
(election day) talk at a Las Vegas get out the vote
event appearance with Sean Penn, Mimi Polk Sotela,
Quentin Tarantino, and Peter Coyote.

He gave a heartfelt, powerful speech. I have his name
on my videotapes at home.

6. The man next to Jackson is Fernando Suarez del Solar
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 01:15 PM by DinahMoeHum
He's a member of Gold Star Families For Peace.

His son was USMC LCpl Jesus Alberto Suarez del Solar Navarro, KIA in Iraq in 2003.

22. Thanks, Dinah.
I'd have always wondered. What a tragic reason for being in the front row of a march.

8. My husband said the people in my photo
which is sort of like yours were Al Sharpton, Bob Edgars, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond, Barbara Lee and Lynn Wookey. I don't know who is who, nor can I vouch for his source ... he got it off the internets somewhere.

10. Nice try, but no go.
I don't see Barbara Lee, Julian Bond or Bob Edgars in the photo. I've never heard of Lynn Wookey, and nothing comes up under that name in Google. Lynn Woolsey comes up, but she's white.

Thanks anyway, Blue!

9. Possibly Rep. Cynthia McKinney
from Georgia. She was there and spoke at the rally.

11. I think the woman next to the Gold Star father is Rep. McKinney.
You can't see her face as she flashes the peace sign, but I saw her speak at the rally on C-SPAN. She was short and wearing the same color suit, so I'm pretty sure that's her.

18. Unless she changed clothes after she spoke,
That woman is not Rep McKinney who wore an orange outfit that day. Also, Rep McKinney had her hair pulled tight, I can't remember if it was one or two braids.

The woman that is standing on Rev. Sharpton's left may be one of the GS Moms from Georgia, but that is just a guess.

19. No, not the woman next to Sharpton.
The woman whose face you can't see because her arm's raised. Furthest person on the left, next to the gentleman in the cowboy hat. I think that woman is Rep. McKinney.

I'm trying to figure out who the woman on the right is. She looks familiar, but I just can't put my finger on where I know her from.

21. OK.
The tv in my motel room must have bad color. I could have sworn it was pink. But I can easily be persuaded that isn't Rep. McKinney. :)
