Lights out in Baghdad. What do you think?
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 04:49 PM by smartvoter
Smart money says we will have three major camps on this issue:

Camp 1: Example number 1,000,001 that we have no ability to control anything in Iraq.

Camp 2: It was a ploy by people on our side to demonstrate the need for a continued presence, sell propaganda after the referendum that the people would not be intimidated, provide a smoke screen in case the referndum fails and/or a nice distraction for a badly battered WH.

Camp 3: There has been so much bullshit it's impossible to tell what is what. More data is needed.

Care to share your viewpoint? I personally lean toward Camp 1 but believe that on many fronts in general, and Iraq in particular, the government is like dealing with a dishonest teenager -- nothing it says is credible.

1. Camp 4. . .
It could be used to explain why the Constitution was rejected, since those in favor were unable to get to the polls.

8. Agreed. Or....
The electricity is out in areas that are going to vote "No" to the constitution.

There is NO way in hell that the constitution will be voted down. If there was a chance the * admin would not be saying how important this is. The outcome is already determined. No matter what, it will 'pass'.

It's a sham.

9. Bingo.
This is pretty much the same way Bush runs elections in the US.

5. Camp 3
A cynical guy could say this is the Friday Afternoon News Dump to keep Rove out of the news. Or, a cynical guy could say it provides cover for tomorrows sure to fail according to the BushCo wishes elections. But, that would be a pretty cynical guy who said that.

6. I'm in camp three. At least with teenagers when they say "I'm
hungry" or "I'm horny" or "don't wake me up." You know they are telling the truth.

7. Perhaps
If the lights are out, people will stay at home, and the insurgents will have noone to blow up, so they decided to cut the power.

No matter what the reason is, Im sure it was planned, because of the timing of it all.
