He seems like one of the best and most mentally adroit Democratic advocates...

He's not paid to lose elections either.

18. My dog can catch a Frisbee in her mouth
while running at full speed.

That doesn't make her a good campaign director.

He's never won an election. Do you think anyone would hire me if I'd lost every trial I had?

Folks considered that one of the best pieces of political oratory since William Jenning Bryan's Cross Of Gold speech...

As I said I have never seen him lose an argument on tv...

14. Here's my list
He's too cautious

He talks a lot tougher than he is

He won't win by any means necessary

He doesn't use opinion polls creatively or effectively

He didn't have the best candidates

He's TOO CAUTIOUS!

I could go through all the old lines...nothing ventured, nothing gained; the bigger the risk the bigger the reward....

But that's not necessary.

You have to be w3illing to take of the damn gloves and fight...OUT LOUD! Being good in the war room just doesn't make it!

7. I'm reminded of a quote from Adlai Stevenson.
He was told by a woman "every thinking person will vote for you".

He said: "That's great Ma'am, but I need a majority."

Eighty percent of the deficit which has been accruing since the time of Washington has been accrued by just three presidents... They are Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43....

Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 10:26 PM by fujiyama
for several Democratic presidential candidates including Kerry and Gore. I believe he was also involved in the Mondale campaign.

And he hasn't won a single presidential election. I believe he hasn't been quite as bad with senate elections, but the guy obviously has no understanding of national politics.

31. If he has no understanding of national politics, why do they
keep hiring him as an "advsor" in national campaigns?

I swear, I'll never understand politics. The guy flubs the job, then gets hired (and paid) to flub it again, and again.

Nice work if you can get it, yes?

32. Yeah, forget about the elections in 2000 and 2004 being stolen.
We still have denial here about the fact we don't have fair elections in this country.

Shrum has NOTHING whatever to do with these "losses," which weren't losses at all.

33. Oh, I'm not disputing that the elections were stolen.
I just don't understand who these people get these jobs as "advisors." Seems like a pretty cushy deal, and you're never held to any accounting.

34. Bob Shrum reminds me of a famous Shaquille O'Neal quote
(This was, of course, before he got to the Lakers and finally became a winner)

"I've been successful on every level except college and the pros"

I think many were nervous about his presence.

That recent Paul Hackett quote really applies - "The Democratic party is addicted to failure".
