Poll question: Is our buddy William Saffire involved in any of this mess?
Remember William Saffire? Did he get out when the gettin' was good? Or did he slither out, hoping to avoid being smeared when the shit hit the fan?

2. William Saffire had an opinion column in the New York Times.

He retired right after George Bush won his second election. It was very odd. But, I do believe he made the same arguments for war that Judith Miller made.

You might call him the Robert Novak of the press.

3. I know who he is, but don't follow his columns, therefore
not well enough informed to know what his connection might be.

although, to be fair, I never read Judith Miller, either, but DUers have been kind enough to fill in that deficit.

can you give me more to go on that implicates him?

5. That's a wierd formulation
Saffire and Novak are both opinion writers - Saffire wrote at the Times and Novak at the Sun-Times (I think).

And you don't get in the same kind of trouble on the opinion page that you do in other sections of the newspaper.

4. They all did
the Bush propaganda team forgot that they were supposed to be journalists and not paid staff.
