Walked out of a McDonald's today because they had Fox news on
Planned on getting lunch there but when I walked inside to order there where two TV's hanging from the ceiling with Fox news on! After I picked my jaw up off the floor and got over my shock I turned around and left, I refuse to spend my money in any business that has that propaganda channel on.

12. That was my intent, I went up to the counter but they were really
busy so I just left, but I was looking for any employees on my way out to tell them that was why I was leaving. Unfortunately I didn't see any. Believe me, if there would have been one available to talk to I would have told them they won't be getting my business anymore.
I refuse to listen to that rightwing propaganda!!!!!!!!!

Fox news is banded from my house.

But then the last time I was in my local remodeled library, they'd added a television in the lobby. Big screen, flat. In a library?

Libraries, fast food places... what is this, a new trend or something?

and told the dentist that, unless he wanted me grinding my teeth in rage - and inadvertently biting him - he'd be well advised to either change it or turn it down.

They turned it to a nice classical station.

Who the hell wants to listen to hate radio while they're getting their teeth drilled, anyway? Isn't one source of pain enough?

Theres a very good pizza place close by. I loved to go there and eat the hot wings, and pizza. Then the got televisions. It makes it impossible to enjoy my meal and have to listen to those asshats on Fox.

I have to sit through it at the gym. It's on there a lot, and I already paid for my two-year membership last year. So I'm stuck.

Also, it used to be on all the time in the newsstand shops in Grand Central Station. I dreaded every time I had to go back and pick up Metro North to go home, because I knew I would be forced to see and hear that crap while I was busy paying for my orange juice and gum.

Oooh, that's a bad memory.

36. Good job
McDonald's, like just about ALL hamburger chains, is a major Republican donor anyway. I would actually EXPECT to watch Fox News when I walk in there.

I also avoid Taco Bell/KFC, Wendy's, In-N-Out, and Carl's Jr. for the same reason. No California Republican runs for statewide office without endorsement from Carl Karcher, the owner of Carl's Jr; that's how powerful he is.

I usually eat at neighborhood restaurants, often ethnic. Except in Koreatown, where your "neighborhood restaurant" often has sermon tapes from death cult megachurches.

46. I stayed at the Hampton Inn last week.
Of all the news channels, they only carried fox. No CNN, no MSNBC. And to top it off, no Comedy Central, so I also missed my Daily Show. I called and told them that I was unhappy with their channel choices. The young kid at the desk said that the manager chose the cable channels and he would pass the message on to him. He probably will, although he really didn't seem interested one way or another...I was that age myself at one time :).

Anyway, whether this is a Hampton Inn thing or a local management thing, I don't know, but just a word to the wise; don't be surprised if you check in to a H.I. and find you are stuck with fox news. Perhaps DU travelers should either call ahead of time or pick a different hotel chain.

Some chains, like Holiday Inn, are notoriously Republican.

Hampton is part of Hilton though, which is pretty much dead even between Dems and pugs (the pugs get a very slight advantage). I like the Hilton Garden Inn, by the way. (In fact, the only thing that p*sses me off about Hilton is the heiress Paris.)

I'd blame the manager.

Choice Hotels (Quality, Comfort, Clarion, etc) are almost exclusively Democratic - though their service is uneven at best.

I stay at a ton of Hamptons (love them Hhonors points) and if you complain they really jump on it. Fill out the How Did We Do card and be sure to mention it when you check out. Also go to Hhonors.com and write them an email. I've found that the HI chain is very big on customer service.

In my stays it's been my experience that in the rooms they carry the local cable channels. However in the Breakfast Room that Faux will be on alot of the time. I've asked those around me if we can change the channel at times but usually just eat and run and let it go.

63. yeah, our cable company
has three different FOX networks on its menu. I told them that it was an "overkill" on FOX and I won't watch one of Rupert's stations--I'm not getting my monies worth. Customer service said they send out a suggestion form every year, so that the customers could make suggestions--I already did. They changed my comedy central station to a station in the 70's, and when I turn on my television the buying station automatically comes on instead of WGN. The buying stations used to be in the 60's--I hate watching consumer TV also.

62. I'd write the fanchise owner.
The Manager at the McD's may just have gotten promoted from flipping burgers.

Often the channel choice is not Official Policy. Some bozo employee just changes it; sometimes customers have the power. Then most people ignore it or just consider it mildly annoying. If you had had time, you might have been able to get the channel changed. But Fast Food joints are not used by people with lots of time.

In your letter, suggest a less controversial channel. Even CNN would do.
