The Military Does Not Belong to the Republican Party!
It may seem that way, but it's not. What happened to Ed Schultz is a travesty, and I believe will be overturned. America can do better! We have fought wars, and people have died to protect us from other nations, and other governments that claimed to have the military in their pockets. That cannot be the case with America, or America is dead.

It may seem like the military belongs to the neo-cons, especially at the Officer level. You would be amazed. You could go into any military command, and every single television will be tuned to Faux News. Except when I was standing watch and controlled the remote. :evilgrin:

The rank and file enlisted folks look pretty much like what you would expect a cross section of America to look like. In fact, at the NCO level and below, you might even see the military leaning more toward Democrats than Republicans. After all, if a military member enjoys the GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, higher wages, medical benefits, pension benefits, morale/welfare and recreation programs, Pell Grants, VA Loans for homes and small businesses, AND EVERY OTHER QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAM THERE IS...then please THANK A DEMOCRAT, or the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. They are the ones that fought for those benefits.

I had a great Officer once. We were stationed in a large room with dividers separating the various desk (just like what you would see in a regular office). People used to tune their radios to Rush. You couldn't help but hear the fat, drug addicted neo-nazi. This officer did not tolerate the air pollution of Rush, especially since Clinton happened to be president at the time. He made people either tune to something else, or wear headphones.

I LOVED THAT GUY!!

Anyway, for those of you that have seen me post before. I'm a prior enlisted guy that earned a commission. What the Navy calls a "Mustang"...and YES! I am a bleeding heart liberal!!!

Perhaps the most satisfaction I get is when the younger Sailors meet me and realize that you don't have to be a "knuckle-dragging, neanderthal, neo-con", to love and serve your country.

4. It's Great Isn't it?
A "drug addicted chickenhawk", a "stripper", and a "pedophile".

Thank God the DOD cares about the "morals and values" of the people it puts on Armed Forces Radio....

"dripping" :sarcasm:

5. Back when I was a "Regular" - in the days of conscription
(and "conscription motivated volunteers") and wide spread ROTC - even at Harvard and Yale------->

(that's back before when Lord Nelson was a Seaman Apprentice in the Royal Navy -- about when Julius Caesar was a lance Corporal or Spec 4 in the Roman Legions)

even the officer corps, even the academy educated, career officer corps and the "mustang" prior enlisted officer corps mirrored America.

I was a "conscription motivated" "officer candidate school graduate" officer - and ran into a lot of good, solid Democrats, even at the O-5 and O-6 levels.

The "all volunteer army" has indeed turned the military into a "class apart" separate and distinct from the larger society.

(Exactly as predicted by academicians in the early 1970's)

10. You still can find good and decent senior Officers that are Democrats
We're like the fat kid in dodge-ball.

But, I love to tweak the rabid right wingers every chance I get.

6. The first CG
I had on AD came up through the ranks from enlisted. He was outstanding in so many ways. During his Change of Command troops were unashamedly tearful and heartbroken. I never knew his politics, but I did know he cared for the troops under his command and it showed.

7. And that's really what it should be about
Taking care of the people around you.

I find it offensive that I have spent over 20 years proudly serving my country, and the DOD puts a guy on Armed Forces Radio that tells my fellow Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, and Airman that;

"I hate America"

"Am a terrorist sympathiser"

"Wish more Americans get killed in Iraq"

"Hate Freedom"

etc....

That's just great for "good order and discipline", don't you think?

I've said it before, but I'll say it again; "If Rush were within reach...I'd RIP HIS TITS OFF!"
