Bush whacked Rove on CIA leak( You are not gonna believe this one)
Bush whacked
Rove on CIA leak

BY THOMAS M. DeFRANK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU CHIEF

WASHINGTON - An angry President Bush rebuked chief political guru Karl Rove two years ago for his role in the Valerie Plame affair, sources told the Daily News.

"He made his displeasure known to Karl," a presidential counselor told The News. "He made his life miserable about this."

Bush has nevertheless remained doggedly loyal to Rove, who friends and even political adversaries acknowledge is the architect of the President's rise from baseball owner to leader of the free world.

As special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald nears a decision, perhaps as early as today, on whether to issue indictments in his two-year probe, Bush has already circled the wagons around Rove, whose departure would be a grievous blow to an already shell-shocked White House staff and a President in deep political trouble.

Asked if he believed indictments were forthcoming, a key Bush official said he did not know, then added: "I'm very concerned it could go very, very badly."

"Karl is fighting for his life," the official added, "but anything he did was done to help George W. Bush. The President knows that and appreciates that."

Other sources confirmed, however, that Bush was initially furious with Rove in 2003 when his deputy chief of staff conceded he had talked to the press about the Plame leak.

1. Isn't that "special"
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 03:51 AM by SoCalDem
:puke:.. Rover put people's lives in danger and made the US out to be a laughingstock, and his "loyalty" is what's important?

The extreme loyalty phobia is what's the most dangerous about these freaks.. They value their personal stuff more than the welfare of the nation they claim to love so much :puke:

I'm sure they have their little secrets on each other just like they seem to have on most other political 'leaders'.

14. But you know what? I don't think Bush has the guts to
scream at Rove about ANYTHING. I honestly, truly, really, 100% believe that Rove has such power over this nincompoop that Bush wouldn't dare yell at him about anything.

Rove is the President and Bush is his Mortimer Snerd.

(For those too young to remember, Mortimer Snerd was a "stupid" puppet along with fellow wooden boy Charlie McCarthy popular during the 1940s and 50s mainly and humanized by Candace Bergen's dad.)

2. If Bush knew for 2 years, isn't that obstruction of justice?
Just asking.

3. Depends on what he told Fitzgerald.
We know he lied to the American people when he said "we may never find the leaker".

17. If someone compiled a tape of all Bush's public comments from
the very beginning, they would show a remarkable lack of interest, curiosity or outrage about this whole thing. I remember that comment about "we may never find the leaker" and thinking it was more like "we have no intention of finding the leaker". Now that I think about it, they never needed to "find" the leaker if they knew who it was all along. Bush's comment should have been "we will never EXPOSE the leaker." This article certainly implies that Bush has been well aware of Rove's involvement and even DISCUSSED it with him.

Uuummm. Isn't this kind of gigantic?

4. Not necessarily...
... but there is the law about misprision of a felony. One has to know about the crime and one has to materially benefit from the crime. If one thinks that protecting one's political image in order to win an election is materially benefitting, then, yeah, Bush might be guilty of misprision of a felony.

Now, if Bush knew that Rove was involved, and failed to tell that to the prosecutor in his interview with him, it would depend upon whether or not he was under oath. If under oath (in effect, being deposed by the prosecutor), then Bush might be guilty of obstruction of justice.

If his testimony was not under oath, then Fitzgerald's best bet would be to name Bush an unindicted co-conspirator, so he could then make a criminal subpoena for further evidence. That has already passed the courts in the Watergate business.

6. He rebuked Rove?
What, did he put him over the Presidential knee and spank his chubby butt with the paddle that reads "for naughty little Presidential advisors"?

Bush's propensity for humiliating other people is boundless. I never thought I would feel anything but contempt for Rove, but to be "rebuked" by someone who is supposed to be your friend -- when you have broken a hundred laws to help him -- has got to be a soul-destroying experience.

And I don't want to hear the usual palaver about Rove not having a soul. Whatever he has, Bush will lay personal claim to it and take it from him. This is Bush's world, and we are merely his playthings. Karl Rove is learning that lesson right now, the hard way. He may indeed deserve his punishment, but keep in mind what betrayal feels like. What it does to the betrayed. How it turns the world upside down and makes it a cold, dark, dangerous place. How it turns the womb of one's universe into a dying space inside a dead mother.

The worst part is that while everyone below Cheney may hang, Bush will receive some kind of pardon, no matter what happens. But he should remember that the Ninth Circle of Hell is reserved for traitors. Bush's treason is not a mundane, political treason, but a deep, spiritual treachery that aspires to Godhood but payment for which will be demanded by Hell itself.

It's Cheney-Libby VS Bush-Rove in a 12 round match-up.

19. Not an either/or
Frank Rich stated it clear as a bell in the Sunday NYT - it's not JUST Rove and Libby, it's ALSO Bush and Cheney. We all seem to be missing the point.

8. Thanks for posting it. I read it.
The president is not being helped by this info, since it means he's been lying in public, and to the press, and probably to the prosecutor.

Unindicted co-conspirator?

9. note exactly WHAT shrub was furious about:
he was upset that rove talked to the press ABOUT the plame leak.

he wasn't upset that rove actually talked to the press about plame in the first place, he was upset that he didn't cooperate in the cover-up.

10. BULLSHIT!
BUSH KNEW...again!!!!111!11!11! * BULLSHITTTTTTTTTTT!!!1111!1

KKKarl must be going right on polishing the royal turdhead as usual, utill his last day on the job! Taking the entire blame for a CONSPIRACY by the Bush Goon Squad. The Simonize guru and point prick is still at it, trying to protect his pet primate pResident. I'm betting Bush made Turdblossom an offer he dared not refuse. Without KKKarl, Bush's turd whisperer, nobody in Washington will have the correct combination to tame the top turd. The Sh*t will hit the fan for sure, if Bush loses his other mind.

Anyway...it's too soon to play the blame game Shrub...let's wait and see, what the grand jury sez... before we point any fingers...remember?

Did I say BULLSHIT?

12. The way I read this is that Bush is pissed about them getting caught
not so much about what they did. The article mentions Bush being angry about how clumsy they handled it

"Bush did not feel misled so much by Karl and others as believing that they handled it in a ham-handed and bush-league way," the source said.

But the President felt Rove and other members of the White House damage-control team did a clumsy job in their campaign to discredit Plame's husband, Joseph Wilson, the ex-diplomat who criticized Bush's claim that Saddam Hussen tried to buy weapons-grade uranium in Niger.

As usual these people were doing something they knew Bush was ok with and for Rove how he handled the business over the years burning and trashing anyone who got in his & Bush's way.

Bush is at the center of this leak....

Now that the hammer is about to fall, the White House spin machine is back at work.

Bush stood by Rove and should fall with him... How can he continue to allow a traitor in the White House!!

20. I thought b*sh was going to fire or
take care of anyone involved, then he changed his version to anyone found guilty. Now that it appears that dubby was involved throughout the whole mess, he should resign or fire himself along with all the cronies in the WHIG group.
Amazing that the Saddam trial is starting on the same day as indictments for our own regime is expected. Just saying.
