Waiting for the Sword

By Dan Froomkin
Special to washingtonpost.com
Wednesday, October 19, 2005; 1:15 PM

The White House is suffering from a bad case of the nerves as the feverish speculation over special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald's intentions increasingly points toward the likelihood that he will indict one or more senior administration officials next week.

Among the latest developments:

* The Associated Press reports that senior adviser and possible target Karl Rove appears to be clearing his schedule of public events as he awaits word.

* The New York Times reports that Fitzgerald is not intending to file a final report on its investigation -- and the paper interprets that as a strong sign that he intends to file charges. (The unlikely alternative being that he and his grand jury just fold up and disappear.)

* The New York Daily News reports that Bush scolded Rove two years ago for his "ham-handed" behavior regarding the leak, but is now firmly backing him.

* The National Journal details the possible case against I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff.

* There are scattered reports that Fitzgerald has a cooperating witness from inside the White House.

27. Fitzgerald has certainly given them enough rope to hang themselves
this week.

Now I can see why he is waiting a bit to bring down indictments. Each day that he waits, the more these folks incriminate themselves. Just Judy's little article about herself had more holes in it then swiss cheese. Now, Bush totally incriminates himself. This is great. Keep it up BushCo. By Monday Fitzgerald won't need to indict anybody, they'll have indicted themselves.

you throw a rubber ball against the wall, it's going to bounce back and hit you in the head if you're not paying attention.

And the Neo-Cons and Rove had so many Lies and Intrigues going, they couldn't possibly keep track of them all.

If so, here's something to help you BE ZEN.......

I meant to study Zen and restudy Buddhism generally last summer but had too many other projects going. How unimportant so many things are really in comparison to being centred.

42. I've dabbled in those and others and
haven't used esoteric (to U.S., anyway) philosophies enough since November 2000. They do serve to bring one out of the ego drama and back to spirit observer though. - Peace.

That's great.

It is on Daily Kos.

I'm glad they mentioned Think Progress' tracking of the current GOP talking point on it - the "criminalization of politics".

Froomkin does an awesome synopsis of everything - articles, segments on TV, blogs, Think Tanks, etc.

24. Zen? More like poetic justice
Although my first reaction is a gleeful flush of schadenfreude, it dissolves to the bitter gall of the naked truth of our sons and daughters sent to die on the whims of a pack of hyenas.

On second thought, apologies to hyenas.

28. The second one on that list is possibly better left off. I think.
There was a post in a thread last night that was made by a DU attorney. She mentioned that there is actually no allowance for Fitzgerald to make a report. He can't make a report...

I can find it if you have any interest.

Meanwhile- Yippee, yahoo, woo hoo, et cetera!
