I saw DeLay's first anti-Ronnie Earle attack ad last night...
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 02:40 PM by VelmaD
ask me anything. :)

Seriously. It was cheesy. Poor production values. The barking pit bull was priceless.

What I can't believe is the people running it were stupid enough to spend money to air it in Austin...'cause you know we're all such big fans of DeLay down here. *snort*

1. Where did you see it?
Did it say who paid for it?

3. Saw it on the local CBS affiliate
KEYE 42 in Austin during NCIS.

It probably said who paid for it in little print at the end...but I was too busy rolling on the floor to take a close look. I'll keep my eyes peeled next time though.

7. Figures...
I used to date a guy that worked at KEYE, that place just reeks of conservatism. I know they paid money to have the ad run, but I bet KEYE is the only station that will take the org's (whoever they are) money. That being said I bet it appears on KXAN, knock wood.

2. The "it's no crime to be a conservative" line was priceless...
No, but it is a crime to break the law.

4. It's no crime, but DeLay sure is making it embarassing.
I hope he ratchets up the attacks enough to motivate Earle even more. Maybe the ads themselves can be considered threats or tampering.

5. We need to come up with a good retort for that one...
like "no but committing a crime seems to be a prerequisite for being a Republican" or something like that.

12. If you can bring your own robe, you're a shoo-in...
Just don't bring up that fancy book learnin' in your hearings, okay? Let the President look into your heart. That's all you need.

9. I saw it this morning.
It was really lame. Singled out the Kay Hutchison bit, but ignored all the Dems he went after. Said he was making a movie and such.

Like anyone honestly believes Tom DeLay is anything but a total hard ass wannabe mofioso thug.

Good luck with that, Tom.

11. I haven't seen it yet, but anybody in Texas who does see it, should
write a quick letter to the editor of their local paper asking if Tom Delay isn't tryign to taint the jury pool by running these ads.

After all, it's not an election year, so what else could be the point of these ads?

I'd love to see the judge put a stop to those ads for trying to influence the jury pool.

20. That's my point. They will try to get a change of venue - - probably to
West Texas - - because everybody in Austin will have an opinion on DeLay vs. Earle.

Somebody's gotta get that judge to put a muzzle on the ads.

19. Hey maybe they should create "The Delay Fund" - how to get out of jail
free. They can use donations to allow anyone who is under a warrant to place t.v. and radio advertising pleading their case in the public arena. Or if they are guilty like Delay they can run a smear campaign against the prosecutors, lawyers and their accusers.

Surely Delay would support such a good cause!
