however, my birthday is in about 3 weeks. I will be 50. There... I said it. Plus, I had an eye exam yesterday (no cost... thanks Canadian Health Care system!) and I need.... bifocals. Shit. Good thing I can get those no line thingys. Still going to cost me $400 (over the insurance kick in). But that's better than $1500 (I have a very very very strong prescription). Hmmm.... my birthday is coming up. I can probably get my folks to cough up the extra money (they are very well off... their land alone is worth over $2 million).

I'll be 47 next March. And I just got TRIfocals in January. Laser surgery won't do me a bit of good, because they don't have that for farsightedness, or I'd get it.

Worked very well for my BIL. However, I'm like you. Even with the surgery, it would only improve my eyesight to the point where I wouldn't need coke bottle glasses to see. So to a certain extent, it might be cheaper in the long run (i.e. glasses would be much cheaper). I don't know. I might have a shot because of someone I know has an in with a "Christian" laser surgery place that does this type of operation for those that can't afford it. I might have to go to some "meetings" but I can deal. I just don't want to rip anyone off. Guess that's my athiest morals kicking in <hee>

I'm not a believer, either, but I sing at church. Granted, it's an extremely liberal United Church, but they still believe in god there. People ask me how I can do this since I doubt the existence of god, but I just tell 'em that I do it for the money, because any other reason would be hypocritical.
