Dear Mr. Reid,
I am contacting you solely to register my distress and disappointment, as a Democrat, with your leadership as regards to the Ohio Senate race. You have done no one a favor by first encouraging Paul Hackett to run, indicating he would have your support, and then a week later encouraging Sherrod Brown to go back on his earlier assurances to Mr. Hackett that he had no intention of running.
This not only precipitates a primary fight that does neither the party or the state of Ohio any good whatsoever, but even worse, continues to propagate the impression that the Democratic leadership in wishy-washy and incapable of making a firm commitment. Even to it's own membership!
I am embarrassed by your actions, which will cost the party, the candidates and their supports millions of dollars. Money that could have been far better spent focused on winning election fights to unseat republicans and, hopefully, win back both the Congress and the Senate.
Sincerely,
|
