How could they have been so foolish ?
So soon after they impeached Bill Clinton for lying about sex? Did they forget that no one is above the law? Why did they think they could get away with it? Overt, bald-faced lies and useful propaganda used like a junkie needle - over and over. Why would they not have stayed away from illegal acts and transactions and cover-ups? They have learned nothing.

2. Since they used illegal acts like collusion to impeach Clinton...
I guess they just decided to stay with what works.

11. I suppose the impeachment of Clinton was their dress rehearsal for what

followed.

They had control of the press, they were all on message, so they decided to take the show on the road.

And besides, the ends justifies the means. This was the next step. Discredit Clinton... check. Push through our agenda... check. Get more money to elect the right kind of Conservatives... check.

I'm sure in their own little minds they think we've done the same when we were in power, so they're justified they think. They assume we will fraud, so they can suppress to get back at us and make things fair. Everything has a justification, I reckon.

It's just watching them do all that then talk about God and family values that can really fuck with your head. Surely some of them don't mean that stuff, or they're more dellusional than even I give them credit for.

5. One reason-The media was more servile at the time
When they leaked the name in the summer of 2003, the media was more servile and fawning than it is now. This was shortly after Bush swaggered in front of the mission accomplished banner and the Iraqi resistance had yet to gather steam.

In hindsight, they should have just ignored Wilson's accusations and they probably would have simply drowned in the ProBush Media noise that was blaring so loudly at the time.

12. They weren't at all interested in ignoring Wilson's accusations.
They poked and prodded him mercilessly to get him to go public. I can only imagine the kind of crap he encountered in his private life, but what was made public at the time was considerable.

They wanted him to go public! It's the perfect cover for destroying a source of foreign intelligence they didn't have control over. Placing Porter Goss over the CIA capped it at both ends.

8. The American Press will receive a black eye
It might take ten years, but they will. They lined up behind a right winger President who aroused fear they had not known before. Now they know they were played as an ass.

9. The Republicans are drunk with power.
They figured they fooled the American people in 2000 and 2004 so it should be clear sailing. I guess the boat sprung a leak.
