Is Chimpy Now Running His Own Show????
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 11:56 AM by Beetwasher
Is Rove now pretty much out of the loop focusing on saving his ass in the Plame affair and Chimpy is in control of his PR and spin???? I can see him having this self inflated image of himself, thinking he's capable and everyone yessing him to death. "Oh, that's a great idea Mr. President, yes sir!"

I think Chimpy fashions himself as some sort of great political operative/mastermind/dirty trickster. Remember, he worked on Poppy's campaign doing just that, though I'm sure w/ lot's of hand holding. Now that Rove is taken out, is Chimpy taking the reigns? I think there have been times in the past when they've let him run w/ an idea and you could tell because it was so monumentally stupid and awful that you'd wonder what are they thinking? These were the ideas that were Chimpy's and no one was allowed to tell him they stunk. "See, I'm smart! Not stupid like everybody says! I can do this myself!" "Yes sir! You're brilliant! Great plan sir!"

Case in point:

Bush Says Miers Lack of Judicial Background an Asset for Court

Oct. 20 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush said he chose White House Counsel Harriet Miers as his U.S. Supreme Court nominee in part because he wanted the court to have the perspective of someone who has never been a judge.

``It's an unusual nomination because she's never been a judge,'' Bush said at a news conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today at the White House. ``I picked Harriet for a lot of reasons. One reason is she's never been a judge.''

Delightful - he'll fall flat on his face.

14. You mean "more" not "a"... Actually if it wasn't the most scary
and pathetic example of leadership, it would be funny to watch this gang self-destruct. I am looking forward to the big day and now it seems sure to be coming. Can't help but think the recent anti-Cheney tirade is an attempt to pass all the blame to him, he will resign in disgrace to his new digs in Maryland. Pass the time by counting his profits from his tenure as VP. Georgie at the helm??? He'll break down completely in no time. Just recall his live feed from Iraq. He couldn't even handle that after 5 years of media exposure. Good grief, what an embarrassment for all of America.

8. Well, somebody's gotta do it.
The Dems sure don't seem capable of making converts on their own. Spineless barstids (excepting a few, too few among the "leadership.")

15. I've wondered about that since the big interview fiasco with the troops
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 12:15 PM by JohnnyRingo
Rove would never have let that satelite feed out of the troops getting coached.
The whole thing looked cheesy and unconvincing, but if it was Shrubs idea he probably got pats-on-the-back and yowsuhs all around.

I think he brought back Karen Hughes from foreign diplomat duty to pinch hit for Rove.

She's good at soccer mom sound bites (compassionate conservative was hers), but she can't handle day to day public relations.

16. I've heard Andy Card's in charge
With Rove occupied with his legal problems and Uncle Dick sidelined with that "knee aneurysm" that leaves Andy to change the Chimp's diapers and tell him what to do.

Actually, considering how they can't even seem to convincingly spin away their problems anymore, the theory makes a lot of sense.

21. FURTHER EVIDENCE
From Josh Marshall:

"This part is just inference, not reporting. But I suspect that what we're seeing here is an example of various players in the White House trying to manage damage control without central direction, perhaps without the requisite experience in some cases and even more likely without all the key facts at hand.

The limbs keep moving even after the head is severed, but not with the same coordination."

Actually, what I think we're seeing is CHIMPY taking control here.

There's Direction Alright, But it's BAD Direction! I think w/ Rove out of the picture, Chimpy has taken over his own reigns. I think he does fancy himself quite the political guru. "See, I'm smart, not stupid like everyone says! I can do this my own self!" "Yes sir! Brilliant idea sir!"

I'll bet it was Bush's own idea to put out the story that he was angry at Rove, and no one could tell him how stupid an idea that actually was.
