I then got this response:

Holy crap Mike .... what are you trying to do give me a heart attack?

Mike can you explain a workable plan for troop withdrawl that does
not make America look bad? What is going to happen to America's
standing in the world if we "cut and run"?

Sure would like to hear a single idea from the democratic party.
You are part of a party of whiners and rock-throwers. You guys may
have a standing, if you came up with viable and workable solutions.

Let's hear 'em --- instead of the typical drivel that comes from
the libs.

Mark

Is it me or are the rethugs getting kind of whiny??

1. they are whiny
I'd suggest that they check with ideas of getting out of Iraq that I've seen here or check with Cindy Sheehan's ideas about it-she spoke quite forcefully on the issue on AAR yesterday. Of course, they won't agree with any of them. So I'd suggest to them that they look at history, namely what happened in Viet Nam, and ask them if we aren't heading for the same sort of debacle-so why wait until 50,000 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died?

2. My Response: Why do WE have to come up with solutions?
We have a Republican President, Senate and Congress; what was THEIR idea in getting out of this fiasco? Why do WE have to come up with solutions to clean up YOUR mess?

Please respond to this moran...

Imagine a restaurant that tells customers who complain to either shut up or give them the "SOLUTION" to improve their filthy kitchen and their bad food - I mean exact details as to sanitary regime, repertoire, recipes, what to buy, what to cook, who to hire, how to cook it.

Imagine a concert that tells customers who complain to either shut up or give them the "SOLUTION" to improve their lousy band and stinking music.

They're fucking INCOMPETENT. Fuck them.

3. America won't look bad for doing the right thing.
Bu$h, his gangster cabal, and his idiot supporters will bear the full responsibility.

Tell your idiot friend to join the Army and go to Iraq if he's so worried about it.

4. Not-so-clever deflection by "Mark"
Instead of addressing the myriad points you raised, he basically responded with "Well how do you think we should fix it?"

I don't know, Mark, how about we first get rid of the assholes who got us into this mess?

Repeating the nonsense that "Democrats have no ideas" is a little tired. Dems (and Repubs, even) have proposed ideas for withdrawal, for the economy, and for a more efficient government.

Also, I'd like ask Mark what he thinks "America's standing in the world" really is, and how he thinks it can get much worse. LOL.

6. I kinda like Wesley Clark's take on it.
Make the Iraq effort truly international, hold a summit on how to clean it up, and then put the contracts out for bid, international companies welcome.

As long as Iraqis think we want to profit from this war, we will never accomplish any worthwhile objective.

9. I am so fucking sick...
of hearing about "our STANDING in the world."

Hey FREEPS! I got news for ya! Our STANDING in the world has been eroding ever since Vietnam! We no longer have STANDING. We lost that when we decided to invade a country that posed no threat to us!

Our support for death squads in Central America, our meddling in things that don't concern this country, our unconditional support for "an enemy of my enemy is my friend...."

Every civilized country in the world HATES US. Even our own allies refuse to back our actions now.

I think most of the people in the world would now have more respect for us if we get the hell out of Iraq, admit we made a mistake, and become isolationist- tightening our borders, and stopping meddling in shit that doesn't concern us. But that'll never happen because we have a bunch of oil-hungry imperialist assholes in charge.

What kind of moronic argument is that? The problem is that the neocons have painted us into a corner from which there IS NO clean exit. Many of us were pointing this out AS THEY WERE DOING IT, and shit heads like that guy were telling us to shut-up.

Step 1 is to remove the criminals and marginalize their idiot followers.

12. My response to their response:
"What is going to happen to America's standing in the world if we "cut and run"?"

Why is everyone so short-sighted and arrogant as to believe we are the only ones capable of policing Iraq? If we hadn't gone against our allies' wishes in the first place and rushed into this war, the justification for which we now know to be a lie, we wouldn't be bearing the brunt of the responsibility in the first place. However, that doesn't mean we can't be responsible now by pulling out our troops and asking the UN to take over on the ground, while we continue to support their efforts in other ways. What simple-minded thought process can't see any alternatives to either having troops there or fleeing? Are all republicans mentally three years old? Would you like juice or milk? Exert some cognitive ability, for Christ's sake.

"Sure would like to hear a single idea from the democratic party."

You won't hear them until you start listening. Average citizens won't hear them until the media starts covering them. Neither of these are the fault of Democrats, who are offering ideas every day. Thanks for admitting you're not paying attention, though.

"You are part of a party of whiners and rock-throwers."

You understand irony! That's wonderful! You can think!

"You guys may have a standing, if you came up with viable and workable solutions."

You mean, if we came up with viable and workable solutions that you approved of. We constantly come up with viable and workable solutions that you out-of-hand dismiss. Well, your party has had its chance. Enjoy the next few years, because as republicans are being shown to be incompetent nepostistic criminals willing to commit treason and lie about it, this will be the last presidency you'll have for quite a long time.
