VIDEO- DeFazio (OR) from the Floor-YOUR DEMOCRATS calling out BS
What the Republicans are doing to gut entitlements for the benefit of the rich

NEVER let it be said again that there are not Democrats who do NOT SPEAK UP. They DO-they just don't get played on corporate media.

24. that's my rep!!!
I love the guy and have donated hundreds of $$$ to keep him in office. His opponent, who apparently didn't get creamed badly enough two years to learn his lesson, took $5000 from Delay.

why isn't he put forth as the face of the Democratic Party instead of Lieberman and Biden?

9. I don't know but I think WE CAN DO IT
Every Democrat that has a hero or heroine speaking for us from the floor needs to tout that person. The Corporate Media isn't going to do it. Biden "Never Met a Torturer I Wouldn't Confirm for AG" isn't going to do it. Lieberman "Kiss Bush and Pretend to be a Dem" has his own agenda.

Well, to paraphrase Howard Beale, I'm mad as hell and I WANT TO ELEVATE the Dems that speak FOR ME. For the people instead of corporations. That, even if they have little power, still have a voice and they're USING IT. They are the trees falling in the forest, but we HEAR IT and SEE IT.

10. DeFazio speaks the truth!
He called the Republicans out big time. Not one word can be disputed.

$8 trillion in debt

Borrowing money from SS and foreign countries to pay for the tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Putting us $1.2 billion deeper in debt every day

Go Peter!

I've turned it on CSPAN and have heard some great speeches in the House by democrats. My favorite person to hear speak is probably Jim McDermott and second favorite Nancy Pelosi of course. There are just so many great democrats in the House that I wish would be in the Senate. Mr. DeFazio did great! And I loved how he pounded hard about the tax cuts for the rich and how the republicans are the one's in charge. We should definitley be pounding this hard next year. This whole speech is great! I can't believe the programs they were going to cut for more tax cuts!!! AH! Ugh!

14. This is why DeFazio should not run for governor in Oregon
We desparately need him sticking up for us in Washington D.C.

His district is nominally a swing district, his seat is never safe, every time he is re-elected it is an affirmation that even the conservative Oregonians in his district have come to appreciate his honesty and plain-spoken accuracy, and trust him to represent their real interests.

PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES CAN WIN IF THEY ARE WILLING TO SPEAK DIRECTLY TO THE FACTS AND CONCERNS OF CONSTITUENTS.

30. Here's my favorite McDermott video
Jim McDermott standing up for Anti-Flag

Anti-Flag is a political punk band that is demonized by the right for their activism. In October, Rep. McDermott gave a speech on the floor of the House supporting them and encouraging young people to vote.

25. Rep. DeFazio hits the nail if the head: shifting the tax burden down,
creating an extremely regressive tax scheme wherein the most affluent shoulder a much lesser tax burden than the working class and poor is at the very center of Repukedom values.

floor and voted for. I try to read all he says and keep up on how he votes. He's what we're talking about regarding Democrats and their ideals. Love the guy. He's NOT DLC either.

37. Wayne Lyman Morse
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 11:47 PM by Ferret Mike
The Tiger of the Senate, he was only one of two senators who had the guts to stand up and vote against the Gulf of Tonken resolution in 1964. I love Pete, and he's my Congressman too.

I would support his running for the Senate whole heartedly. And if he wins, he's always still welcome to come back and push the manure gathering wheel barrel and shovel at the end of the annual Eugene Celebration Parade, just as he has always done. ;-D

Morse's shoes are big. He ran for the presidency in fact in 1960 during the primary season. The people I know here who knew him and his family have always called him THE senator. We sure could use more of his stature. It would be nice to see Pete earn a simular statue of him to be put next to Morse's new statue at the Lane County Courthouse down at 8th St. and Oak in Eugene.

45. This is what my representative sounds like
when he comes to town to speak w/and ask questions of his constitutes. He definitely has fire in his belly.

I asked him when he was in town this past August, why we don't hear Dems speak up like he does. His answer to me was, many do not get the opportunity to hold a mic in front of the cameras.

When asked if he would consider a run for the Senate, his response two years ago, was that he thought he could do more for the people right where he is.

I :loveya: Pete DeFazio
