Sexual assault victim puts suspect in hospital

When the young woman cried, pointed to her bedside Bible and begged her attacker to have mercy on a Christian woman, he told her to shut up or she'd be shot.

So the Hyde Park woman tried another approach: She smashed her attacker over the head with a bottle, stabbed him with a kitchen knife and wrestled his gun away, a Cook County prosecutor said in bond court at 26th and California Wednesday.

As Kendro Earl, 18, was being treated for stab wounds at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a judge Wednesday set his bail at $650,000.

Earl is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault for the Oct. 17 attack at an apartment in the 5100 block of South Kenwood, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said Earl, who is from South Holland, has no known criminal history.

When you being attacked, you should always fight as hard as you can. Score one for self defense.

Fighting back is not always a smart idea. And there are many ways to fight back. One can fight back by testifying at a trial for example.

Anyway - more power to her.

I like that as soon as she was able, she got the hell out of the house!

If someone was breaking into my house, and I had the opportunity, the first thing I'd do is get the fuck OUT of the house (or call 911 and then get out). They can have my stuff if they want it that bad, I've got insurance.

I think the woman in this story did exactly right in cooperating and keeping her wits about her until she could escape.

And she didn't even need a gun to do it!
