It is as predictable and obvious as so much else in Imperial America.

Don't you wish we still lived in the Old Republic, where things could still surprise you sometimes (as the raucous parade of a Free Nation is wont to do).

Imperial Amerika is as boringly predictable (so far, anyway) as Stalinist Russia.

Everyone who is watching knows what the Empire is going to do long before it happens these days.\

For instance:

I can say with 100% certainty:

The Busheviks will never catch the Right-Wing Anthrax Assassin
The Busheviks will never catch the Plame Leaker
Imperial Amerika will NEVER have a forward-looking space program nor will we ever set foot on Mars or have a moonbase (the Busheviks will spend it all on militarizing Earth orbit)

There's more, much more, as boringly predictable as if you'd said,

"I am 100% certain Stalin will never release the poltical prisoners from the Gulags, nor even admit they exist."

Same thing.

Luckily, the Busheviks are for the moment "kinder and gentler" than the Totalitarians (left and right) who have come before them.

Enquiring minds and all that stuff!

They don't even bother to hide what they are doing.

Judy Woodruff seemed determined to destroy any show of unity the Democrats had. Then I suppose she will whine about the "splintered message."

Candy Crowley was also terrible - setting up ridiculous scenarios and hypotheticals to preface her questions. What was that all about? She asked someone, Kerry, something that assumed a nuclear attack! I don't know if she has a crush on Bush or if she is in ill health or just scared senseless about something, but she looked really stressed and unhappy and just projected sheer hatred towards the candidates.

Judy Woodruff looked tight-lipped and furious. Did they not want to be there? Why were they so angry?
