They numbed his ability to empathize with the world at large. Addicts are ruled by their obsessions. He has a hole in his soul that needs to be repaired. We always knew that. But now we know why he wasn't healing.

Drugs don't explain his previous 10 years as a sociopath.

I'm not saying the drugs were the cause, but they prevented the healing, they aggrivated the problem.

I feel sorry for anyone with drug problems, and I agree with Kucinich's approach to the drugs (i.e. focusing on rehabilitation and not imprisonment). I hate Rush's politics, but he's a human being; and as someone who has had similar problems, I can empathize with his plight.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

All he wanted was to be rich and famous. That he got where he is by compromising whatever appendages of a conscience he may have had attest to this. He could have just as easily become a shill for the liberals but was swayed by Daddy Bush after being invited into the elite circles of CONdom by Bush Sr.

I just heard a CON radio show where a host who also has gone through publicized drug and alcohol problems said that Rush sees things in either black or white and the world is not that way at all. The host said it will be interesting to see whether he continues to see things the same way after this. I think it won't change him because Rush has been in treatment twice for the same problem.

Of course this 30 day crap isn't going to help. He will need a full 90-day program. He will also need some deep spiritual healing.
