We haven't talked about DEATH THREATS to witnesses ie Plame

I know it has been discussed how Matalin has not been working and staying home with her kids. Also it has been commented upon many times about how Carville is not saying anything about the case or when he does he indicates how it is not a big deal, as well as how bad he looks. I was reading this WP article last night. I woke up this morning thinking, that is it! There are witnesses that have been intimidated and their lives and families threatened. Let's face it, these people are ruthless murderers.

Fitzgerald is nearing a decision on whether he will prosecute anyone when the federal grand jury term ends Friday. The letter specified that he could investigate and prosecute "perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence and intimidation of witnesses."

Mary Matalin has been threatened regarding her testimony?

I think it is highly likely that other people have been threatened and Fitzgerald uncovered it early on in his probe hence the request to Comey clarifying his authority in Feb 04. But we all know that Fitzgerald was given plenary authority and had the power to take the investigation where ever it led. So why the need to nail that point down. Perhaps it was a heads-up to Comey that evidence had been destroyed and people threatened. Also why put the letter up on the website? I think it is a tactic being used by Fitz to warn people that HE KNOWS.

Fitz is a good chess player - thank g*d for him.

I figured we'd hear from him following Katrina since it hit his home turf, but I never saw him at all. Not to say he wasn't out there, I just didn't see him.

Nothing would surprise me at this point -- threats against witnesses would be the order of the day for this gang of thugs. But don't you suppose Matalin would be in the clear? I mean, she's a good little soldier. She's this generation's equivalent of Chuck Colson, who said he'd run over his own grandmother to protect Richard Nixon.

I think that in hindsight, all of us have been thinking for a long time that the scope of Fitzgerald's investigation is much broader than who outted Valerie Plame. The witness list we've all seen may just include the people called to testify only about this aspect of the case.

In fact when the plane disappeared last night .... my son said to me "I know what you're wondering, Mom. Me too."

It's just so sad to me that we have to worry about danger, but there has been too many with whom I held much faith that met demise, beginning with John Kennedy.
