Discretionary News Drops next week to deflect WH CIA leak indictments?
There are a few discretionary big news items the Bush regime could drop on the media next week. Don't have too many expectations, but I expect there will be indictments next week and then immediate resignations from key players, as damage control. Then the next day, expect there to be one or more large news drops to suck up oxygen:

1) Harriet Miers will withdraw.

2) Shrub will name a replacement for Alan Greenspan who will be retiring in Jan. 2006 at the end of his current term as chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee (that sets interest rates), though he will continue as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.

3) Congress will announce spending cuts and tax cuts.

4) Bush helps brother Jeb accomplish a photo-op mission.

...

13) Rove launches a massive slimy smear against Wilson or Miller or Fitzpatrick as the door hits is chubby ass on the way out.

14) WH leaks a bombshell against Abramoff and Reed, or against DeLay, trying to cut them adrift at the same time as diverting attention.

...

94) Attack Syria.

95) Attack Iran.

96) North Korea.

97) World Series is on.

98) Something about flu. Not likely, since there is no immediately impending event to trigger new action.

99) Terralert. I don't think there will be one, even if events were to prompt them to raise it under ordinary circumstances, because it would smack too much of wag the dog.

100) 2000th soldier is killed in Iraq. Not a distraction of the White House's choosing, and not what we here consider a distraction, since we consider it one of the top issues if not the top issue.

What others do you think are impending?

1. I hope the president
talks to us about space travel. It is the single most pressing issue confronting each and every citizen. Things like the Plame scandal, the neocon spy/AIPAC case, the Supreme Court, and especially the Iraqi war are mere background noise. Let's focus on mars.

8. Only if he will don a spacesuit and
Lead the way to Mars.. hmm, that should keep him out of our hair for two to four years minimum..

Might want to take Cheney with, Rove and a few others..

Tell him it contains the rarest commerecial product - RED SPACE OIL :)

Mars IS the God of War and it's pretty damn close, anyone know if the concurrance of Mars wandering near the earth has resulted in more wars during those periods? Always wanted to investigate that..

2. terra-lert
while I would normally agree that it would smack too much like wag-the-dog -- the MO for terra-lerts has changed a bit

instead of HOMELAND INSECURITY making a big announcement - they tell local/state officials about it and then let the loca/state officials declare the alert

this adds a buffer and provides a ready-made scape goat when the terra-lert turns out to be fake

4. they like terra too much to let it go by the wayside...I agree,
and have noted that they just changed the format as you describe. they like the sheeples all shaken and skeered....'specially when it can distract from "bad news"....

(I don't think it's working that well these days, but this admin is really a one-trick pony - well maybe more than one, but limited number that they keep recycling)

5. when all you have is fear.....
it's been mentioned in other threads that a terra-lert would be toooo obvious ala wag-the-dog

don't forget Rove has and will be distracted by the indictments

WILMA will eat up some press time - but my money is still on a terra-lert

7. We will probably lose our 2000th soldier
by Tuesday, but don't look to the WH for any comment.

I do believe Harriet Miers will withdraw this week. After the lies about her being raised Catholic and the revelations about her being a delinquent slumlord, in addition to everything else we've discussed here, it's game over.

10. Isn't there an upcoming civil lawsuit against Michael Jackson?
And tropical depression 25 should be getting stronger. Oh, I think a game of volleyball can be organized in the aft desk of one of the aircraft carriers. Someplace a child will be snatched by an ex and there can be news banners charting the progress of the police in bringing the evildoer to justice. There will also be a 18 year old female that decides to leave home and the parents can put out a search to look for her, this is pretty good also because heartfealt prayers for her safe return can be worked into the news. But only if she is white. I doubt a black female disappearing would gather much interest, unless a drug or prostitution angle can be worked into this somehow. Maybe the "Buckwheat has been SHOT!" story can be re-run, but as an after event analysis of what happened, thats good for 10 minutes or so. Maybe a few minutes can be aired showing how diligently our customs people are checking for narcotics crossing our borders, be sure though to keep the cameras on the check point and don't pan it to show the 200 guys jumping the fence a couple hundred yards or so away. That should cover the domestic news.

Now for the international, I think the Chinese are gonna allow their Pandas to go on display in Sydney. Can even work-in an article about the bears diet and compare that diet to say a possums diet. Increase local interest you know.

Well, there is lots of 'newsworthy' stuff to show next week.
