but I am afraid that my attitude is more like Natalie Woods in a miracle on 34th St. She doesn't believe in Santa Claus, but part of her hopes that she is wrong. Only, I believe that there is more than enough evidence to obtain indictments, I just don't believe it will happen--the bush administration has way too much to lose. But yet I hope that I am wrong. I find myself saying "I believe, I believe it's silly (It's unlikely) but I believe."

Hersh goes on to tell how Nixon sent Anna Chennault to lobby South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu to urge him to obstruct the effort to begin peace negotiations.
