ABC NEWS = POLITICAL MIND CONTROL
World News Tonite ( Terry Moran) just aired a segment on the political attitudes of Iraqi civilians.

How could it be possible to discuss this subject and NOT to mention the British Defense Department survey ( reported Friday in the London Telegraph, and picked-up by Reuters, Yahoo and the NY Daily News; those are the outlets I know about) that reported 44% of Iraqi civilians
* support* the armed insurgency and over 80% support US withdrawal from Iraq?!?

The ABC report features three interviews with pro-American civilians who stressed that conditions were slowly getting better. And no interviews with any civilians who felt differently. In sum, happy days are hear again and the light beckons at the end of the tunnel.

Folks, this isn't just junk journalism this is professional MALPRACTICE and , if it isn't a criminal conspiracy, the laws should be updated to MAKE it one.

At the very least, this kind of deliberate, calculated journaliostic deception should be actionable in our civil courts.

1. The spirit of Judy Miller has migrated to ABC.
Since the idiot "journalists" don't leave the Green Zone for fear of getting killed, they interview only people inside the Green Zone. That leads to some pretty distorted views of what Iraqis are thinking. The fact that they can't leave the Green Zone ought to tell everyone all they want to know about conditions and attitudes inside Iraq.

4. True. That explains why they don't know what's going on. But...
someone at ABC must have made a *concious* choice to leave out the facts of the British survey.

After all, the report was about the " political attitudes of Iraqi civilians".

This is *calculated* deception.

2. I gave up on ABC
when they went after Clinton. It was cruel.

3. He should have heard the coord of Saddam's defense today on
the BBC...lost his job and family under Saddam, but still supports the insurgency and wants Saddam to get a fair trial, out of the country. He feels a setup against Saddam would be typical of the US occupier....Above everything else, he puts the occupation of Iraq by the US as the biggest evil of all...

5. It's a "bloody" outrage that we have to get real news...
from the bloody BBC.

6. I have to agree. ABC seems to be the worst and the agenda is calculated.
Atleast that is how I see it as well.

8. When Jennings anchored, it seemed the least compromised...
of the traditional Big Three network newscasts.

But since the vapid Elizabeth Vargas took over, it is indistinguishable from the other two.

And Terry Moran is identified, in my mind at least, with the Bush reeelect campaign. Traveled with them and dispensed the usual pap, with a generally favorable slant.

15. I have noticed the same trend
I have found if it's between NBC and ABC I click on NBC. CBS news comes on 1/2 hour earlier.

10. Sheeez. I hadn't considered that.
That's quite a commentary on the difference in the role of the Brit media... which is supposedly an arm of the gov't and that of the Americans which is allegedly independent.

I'm gonna complain to mediamatters first, then send criticism to ABC.

9. An d yet this punk Moran has the very gall to sit in those WH briefing
sessions and pretend to ask hard-hitting questions, as though he was "taking Scott McClellan on." What a load of jello bs.

11. Yes indeed!
I've been closely monitoring the Big Three's evening news broadcasts. ABC is definitely the least challenging to the status quo and the * administration. They are corporate-friendly and willing to skip major stories that cast a negative light on Bushco.

CBS is better, and NBC is best, in my opinion, judging by recent shows. (Of course the minute I commit to a statement like this, they do something to disappoint.) But NBC brings us Olberman, and David Gregory, and they don't seem as afraid to delve into dirt lately.

14. This is a complete turnabout from a few yrs. back.
The RW always complained about Jennings... his eyebrows and inflections ( yes, they are crazy)... and Brokaw and company were pathetically obsequious to both Bush 1 and 2.

12. waste of time
to any of these news corporations.... they are beyond being able to reform themselves... they only push the corporate line. Most Amerisheep are way too unconcerned to ever question the veracity of the news reports. And even if they did care the corporations would ignore that concern. Unless it was associated with an 'effective' revolution. In other words, you will never effect truly positive change in an organization like ABC, etc. without replacing the corporation with something different. This should happen to many corporations and, in particular, international corporations.

13. Well, the internet is *gradually* replacing corporate media...
as a source of news for some of us. But this is at best an evolutionary process: in the meantime news for $$$ still will hold sway.

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in organized boycotts of the more egregious violators... World News Tonite and all of FOX NEWS, for example.
