Is there a local weekly war protest in your area?
How often do you go?

How many generally show up?

Just curious. I've only just recently started showing up at the weekly protest I noticed about a year ago in my area.

2. We gather in front of the library where Vietnam protests used to be held
I suspect some of the participant remember that first-hand.

We're at a T intersection, so as cars turn left and right or go straight down the road, we get looks.

More honks, waves, and peace signs of approval than half peace signs and shouts of disapproval, I'm happy to report. Considering we're in the middle of one of the redder parts of the state, that's a good sign I think.

3. heck yeah
even if it only puts a seed for thought, it is well worth it, also my heart feels good honoring the fallen, hopefully preventing further enlistment.
my kids actually look forward to it now and have kool signs of their own creation.

4. Some of the protester have made their own too, but there's always a
bunch in a big Rubbermaid tub for folks to pick from.

The sign that shows the number of the fallen is always kept updated and put in a prominent place in the group photo afterwards.

I'm going to carry enlistment forms with me next time. The Vets for Peace esp. liked that idea.

5. We do one the first Saturday of the month
here in Ft. Wayne, at the courthouse green, from noon to one. We get a lot of traffic on Clinton, Main and Berry streets. Many give us thumbs up, honks and waves, and peace signs. Some only get it half right, but it seems that response is diminishing. I have been playing peace and anti-war recorded music over a PA system for it for the last 6 monthly vigils. The police don't seem to mind at all. We generally have a couple of dozen people show up, and I think the numbers may be growing.

6. My first one was a couple dozen, but it was cold and rainy
and with a Packer game on at the same time, so the number was down, it looked like.

Last time we had a counterprotester, with I support the troops and Pres Bush on one side, and God Bless America on the other.

I feel like telling him he has to pick one. He can't support Bush AND the troops.

Is Ft. Wayne a blue area, or red?
