CNN's Bill Schneider: their damage control is backward
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 11:31 AM by DeepModem Mom
Schneider said that in a scandal like this, you want the most damaging info to come out first. He said in this case, the info just keeps leaking out, and gets worse as it comes (my words).

It was a pretty good reply to Daryn's question about Cheney's possible criminality; Bill emphasized the seriousness of the matter, and the political consequences.

1. It's also not helpful to piss off the prosecutor.
Fitz doesn't play that game. He doesn't get mad, he gets indictments.

2. It's not getting worse. Their denial is just beginning to fail.

It starts when the press can admit to "little bad deeds" by those they've been defending. Then they start acknowledging worse things.

Now, with indictments looming, the press is being faced with serious wrongdoings by these people. Wrongdoings that equate to treason, wrongful deaths, false pretenses for pre-emptive war.

Here on DU none of these charges are new to us. It's the press that is waking up and facing reality.

4. i felt badly the Vanity Fair article about her didn't get much attention
here on DU. Unfortunately, Cindy Sheehan took away the spotlight.

6. Vanity Fair isn't going to reach the people that need to learn
about Sibel. That edition was cleaned off the shelf early and by people who already knew the story, I imagine. So, Sibel will have another day to break the wall.
