Governor Schwarzenegger, kicks ass in Walnut Creek...
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 01:33 PM by LaPera
According to the SF Chronicle...

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/10/25/MNGTFFDK8R1.DTL

This is why he will stomp either of the two boring democrats candidates running against him (no matter how much better they and their ideas are).

The stupid democrats are relying on the polls, as they keep saying and believe it'll be a cake walk... A lot will change a year from now...if Musclehead has a good showing with his props, it will be nearly impossible to stop him, (as it may already be).

Why will it be nearly impossible to beat Arnold? The hand picked golden boy of the republican party, the republican party's future...Not only will the republican's lie cheat, smear and distort they steal votes they need in precincts here and there, (through their republican owned electronic voting machines, that are now allowed in the state of California).

The republican money machine is all powerful in CA and will be overwhelming, to keep Arnold's national star burning... as well as with the huge republican corporate media, helping the republican Arnold... as we've already seen in the recall election AND in this recent initiative election that's concluding November 8th.

There's not a chance in hell the two boring democrats running...state Treasurer Phil Angelides and Controller Steve Westly should be the party's only choices for governor. NEITHER have a chance to beat the celebrity status of Arnold (oh, the Dem's will get their 48% -- and LOSE!)
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/08/19/MNGOBEA9JM1.DTL

Millions don't have or vote ideology, here or anywhere else in this country...but millions are indeed swayed simply by the fact the person is a celeberty....

There is no way these the democrats can defeat Arnold, not without a celebrity of their own...Unfortunately, this is what it has come to, (what's it's always been really, the republicans have recognized it years ago, ala Reagan, etc.).

Michael Moore encouraged the democrats in California to get smart and start running democratic celebrities of their own...Who's out there that would actually run against Arnold for Governor? Not democrat Warren Beatty, not democrat George Clooney, not democrat Alec Baldwin, only the "meathead" democrat Rob Reiner might run, whom Arnold would chew up and spit out...

Open your eyes democrats, and STOP depending on the polls and laughing & doing nothing...The republicans have California, (and have had it for two terms of Reagan, Dukmajean, Wilson, and now Schwarzenegger) The republicans are NOT going to give up California, and have big plans in 2012 for it's governor, for eight years...Senator Orin Hatch and republican congressmen already have the ball rolling....

1. The Sacramento Bee has a different view
Special election: Sparks fly over event's format
By Gary Delsohn -- Bee Capitol Bureau
Published 2:15 am PDT Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Story appeared on Page A3 of The Bee

WALNUT CREEK - For the first time since he called a special election, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger stood before an unscreened audience Monday night and fielded random questions about his initiatives.
But the unusual format, dictated by Schwarzenegger and his campaign team, infuriated his foes, who called it "just another Schwarzenegger performance."

"He defined all the rules before we got started," said Gale Kaufman, the lead political strategist for the campaign against Schwarzenegger's special election initiatives. "He got to do another show, which he's very good at, but that's all it was. Nothing more than showmanship."

But Schwarzenegger refused to participate in a face-to-face debate and insisted that he go on last. He and his foes were not on stage at the same time, and he made a 90-second opening statement, which the other side didn't.

When host Randy Shandobil, Bay Area television station KTVU's political editor, said time was up, Schwarzenegger ignored him, thanked the crowd for coming, and pleaded for guests and the television audience to vote for his four ballot initiatives.

8. What if it doesn't happen and Arnold wins a couple?
And what about a year from now, Arnold can and will build momentum, as the democrat's as always think they have in the bag, and then are "shocked". Lazy democrats.

11. Arnold is the master of Rope a Dope
Just look at his history...He makes full use of psycholigical warfare and humilitaion. If he says left you can be damn sure he means right. He has this method perfected to a fine art. I don't understand why this comes as any surprise to any Californian.
You have to study your enemy in order to defeat him.

And Arnie won't be defeated...he is a shill if there ever was a shill.
Right now he and all his fellow grovers are having a hearty laugh at all your expenses... they know they have the machines and they intend on using them.

It's an end run , a sneak attack

The only way I a see him not getting his way..is if he gets somehow framed for a serious felony(although I don't see the media and Hollywood damaging their goldenboy even if they have photos of him raping babies) or if god forbid, he should meet with some untimely accident.

and if he says he's not running for a second term...you can be damn sure he will run.

3. People in Ca. vote CONSISTENTLY for Angelides because they TRUST him.
And he wins statewide.

People all over the country are FINALLY looking for competence now, not glamour or cliches.

Katrina made sure of that.

of Arnold, for the office of Governor of California!!! (Not to mention the starry-eyed media & electronic voting machines).

Again, read this link from a couple of month's ago when Arnold was at his lowest...

9. Tough. Post-Katrina citizens want COMPETENCE. We already know that
Arnold's getting weaker and weaker in the public's eye.

Let's stop pretending he's some schmooze king now that the numbers protesting him are greater than those attending his appearances. Plus, there will be more lawsuits in the news against him for his sexual predatory ways.

7. Yes, they forced the ELECTED democrat Sec. of State out, Arnold replaced
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 01:15 PM by LaPera
him with an APPOINTED republican Secretary of State, (the person who counts the votes) and who likes the republican electronic voting machines and is allowing them in all over the state of California....

All this bullshit has been well thought out by the republicans, while the Dem's sit on their asses and believe the polls and some boring clowns like Phil Angelides, is going to beat the republicans money & media machine (and electronic voting machines)!!!!!

It's time to wake up!

10. Angelides is not a boring clown. He's a competent, trusted lawmaker.
What knowledgeable Democrat would ever call Angelides a "boring clown" in such a derogatory fashion?

14. I agree, I voted for him and I'd vote for him again...
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 01:58 PM by LaPera
but get real, how many voters do you know who will look at the two and listen to the issues...your assuming because Angelides is indeed the better candidate, politician and is more informed and astute, that millions all over California will weight all that and take it into consideration, millions won't. And will be swayed by Arnold's charisma & star power,

Absolutely, Angelides is the better candidate running, but your not looking at it through objective eyes, your ONLY seeing it as you would like it and want it to go...Look at it from the republicans point of view, they are thrilled to have a very keen, knowledgeable person like Angelides running against their macho man...with the republican amazing amount of money and the media right there (celebrities sells and the media loves them) and have you even considered the electronic voting machines, now allowed in the state after Arnold appointed a republican as Secretary of State, the person who actually counts and certifies ALL the votes?

If we believe the polls and believe just how we see it, then Angelides will run a great campaign but I sure as fuck don't see see a Governor Angelides, next year...I'd love to and wish it would happen, but it's NOT going to happen.

16. People aren't BUYING Arnie anymore. The religious right CERTAINLY doesn't
like him.

I think you're grossly exaggerating his appeal at this time. No one will be more motivated to vote than the left will.

And I believe that some Dems ARE working to expose the machines. Major Dems. It will be an exposed issue.

13. They had to pull ads showing Arnold supporting the initiatives
because his visible support hurt the chances of passage for his initiatives. Arnie has a very negative approval rating now. I'm not sure we can defeat the initiatives because Dem turnout will be low. If we can get Dems to the polls, then these won't pass. I hear many voters say they are angry about all special elections and will vote no on all initiatives. I think that feeling is taking hold. If the GOTV effort works, then the initiatives lose.

21. Whoa
Should we just surrender now? :wtf:

Easy there. As some anecdotal evidence of how far Arnie has fallen, jut about my whole family voted for him last time against my pleas. Not one of them would vote for him today. In fact, they are openly disgusted by his grandstanding and failure to deliver. I was actually quite shocked at how angry they were.

There has also been a relentless campaign on radio, TV and billboards against this clown. I have lived in this state for 50 years and have never seen anything like it. I think you assume facts not in evidence.

Anything can happen in this election as it will most likely be a very low turnout. But Arnold's so called "star" has dimmed considerably, of that there can be no doubt.

Bottom line...the guy is a pretentious shill who has quickly worn out his welcome. He is on the same trajectory as BushCorp—straight down the tubes.

22. This is why we need to recall him instead.
Although I don't believe he is very popular anymore, I would like to see someone with more personality and people appeal run for us. Having a colorless bureaucrat like Grey Davis in office was a perfect set up for the RNC to rush their candidate up against him. It's too bad they couldn't wait until the proper election time to get one of their steriod heads to run against the Democratic candidate, but now we know that they won't stop at playing by the rules, so we have to play their game to win.
