If you talk negative about another persons race, you're a Racist!

To me it's as easy as that!

No one said that speaking negatively about a person's race makes one a racist. Give an example please.

Let's leave race aside...
What about a person's actions?

The same would apply for sexism and about any other "ism" you can think of. I've seen this many times. Someone will behave like an asshole to someone, and the other person will react to the behavior. If the person with the lousy behavior happens to be a minority or member of a group that sometimes gets discriminated against, it's VERY common for the individual to claim that it is discrimination against them rather than to admit their behavior just sucks. This is one of the big hurdles society needs to get over in order to resolve the "ism" issue once and for all. If a black person, woman or gay person behaves like a jerk to someone and that person responds in kind, it's not because they are a racist (or whatever else, it's because the other person was an ass to them. Sometimes individuals who belong to these various groups are actually looking for discrimination and their defensive behavior often invites a negative reaction that all to often, gets confused as being bias when it's just a reaction to the other person's behavior.

Resolving this issue is not just the responsibility of non-minorities. It's the responsibility of all of us. Everyone needs to have an open mind about others and look at people as individuals. Just as the non minority people should take care not to make assumptions about minorities, minorities also need to not assume that people are biased against them and pay attention to make sure they aren't being so defensive that things that aren't really bias ends up looking like it.

I agree it is an "out of nowhere WTF (?)" post, but why is it racism?

I assumed it was a reference to Rush Limbaugh's comment about Donovan McNabb and those who have been saying it was not racist.

Is it a negative to state a scientific or medical fact, e.g. sickle cell anemia is far more prevalent in blacks worldwide than other races? That is certainly a negative, but hardly racist.

White redheads are far more likely to experience night blindness. That's an especially negative trait for drivers, therefore a negative comment about white redheads (who may or may not suffer night blindness).

Fair, fat, and forty: that's the catchphrase for those most likely to have gallbladder disease. Not racist, just a fact.

If you're going to make blanket statements, clarify them. Your comment as posted sounds as though it has racist overtones.

is the core belief that makes a person racist.

To me, racism involves acting in a way that systematically hurts the wellbeing of another race. Calling me a n*gger? OK, maybe my feelings might be hurt for a split second (on my worst day). But denying me a job or opportunity because of my race? Thats racism.

But I still think that "words" are less of a problem than "sticks and stones." But then again, "words" may encourage other people to throw "sticks and stones." So maybe I have to change my stance.

I guess technicly if you want to nitpick ok its racist, but i also agree with blkgirl that its becoming abit too pc when only a phrase like that and you get slammed as a racist. Maybe next thing she will say is that all asian women are good at golf, is she still a racist?

The day someone actually prevents me from doing anything because of my race ill call them racist, but to have one(1) negative point on a race doesnt mean she is nessecerily a racist, maybe she thinks highly of asians in other ways.

I am not a person that hates whites. In fact I have met all colors that are perfect shits and sometimes my own sex. Knock it off.
