19. I know every one of those Texans, too.
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 04:46 PM by Neil Lisst
I think the world of each of them, and I hope they feel that way about me. I've worked in campaigns for Ann, for Jim, and for Lloyd. I've put together 501C3s for Jim and Lloyd, and I've created and bought tv, radio and print ads for them.

I'm part of the old school Texas Liberal Mafia.

I've been a big supporter of Harkin for over 20 years. We go back to his first Senate race. I spent the last 6 weeks of the campaign in Iowa with him. I was doing work with the SDCC at the time, and that was a race we needed to win bad, and we did.

12. Since Liberal has been made a dirty word
We use the term "Progressive" now. I would much rather we still used the word "Liberal". It has better connotations.

17. I don't know either, but progressive seems to have currency ...
... while liberal doesn't.

I think a liberal is a progressive who is over 30.

23. I know Sheila, but she couldn't pick me out of a line-up
I was a fan and friend of Mickey Leland, who held the seat after Barbara Jordan and before Craig Washington, who was Sheila Jackson Lee's immediate predecessor.

I've never done more than say HI to her, however.

Liberal or progressive, Mickey was a great one, and Sheila is a work horse for good causes. She's a little difficult to work for, and she loves the camera, but she works hard for good causes and I salute her for that.

27. My top five: John Conyers, Howard Dean, Barbara Boxer
Russ Feingold and Dennis Kucinich -- all true American heroes.

Also greats: Sheila Jackson Lee, Wesley Clark, Russ Holt, Ted Kennedy, RFK, Jr., Cynthia McKinney, Robert Byrd, Tom Harkin, Corrine Brown, John Lewis

Also: Bob Graham, Jesse Jackson

And let's don't forget our heroes from the FCC: Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein who used their own money to travel around the country to stop further deregulation of the media and although outnumbered at the FCC, have held the line heroically.

... which allows me to list him.

I was very displeased with that, but we never spoke of it. I called him after the election, however, to ask him to get Greens out in Austin for protests at the Governor's Mansion in November of 2000, to protest Bush stealing the election.

A lot of Greens did show for those protests.

I can't be mad at Jim. Been in too many trenches with him over the years, and I do respect his beliefs. But dizzam! Nader?!!
