Hilarious yet telling comment i heard on CNN re: Plame
Joe Johns was doing a report, one those nicely produced taped pieces and he's talking about what the effect on the whitehouse and the gop will be if Rove and Libby go down and he quotes one republican strategist as saying to the party faithful "Don't worry about the indictments, there is much more bad news going on in the country today between gas prices and the war the public won't even notice this"

3. oh hell yes, if indictments happen they'll be all over this, 24 hour
news cycle to fill and this time it will contain actual news. Ok so Faux probably won't spend any quality time on it unless it's to smear Wilson and Fitzgerald.

14. ABC's GMA was covering it rather well this morning.
They even mentioned the GOP plans a smear campaign against Fitzgerald when the indictments come down.

2. Yeah well this is directly tied into it.
I mean, when the indictments come down, what happens when the lies over yellow cake uranium are found out?

8. Looking back at 1973-74 and the public today
I don't think Watergate would not have been that big of a deal with the public, except they were already in an ugly mood over the economy and the gas crisis.

Looking at the CIA leak and the state of things today, it could be even nastier for the administration, because unlike Watergate, there is a connection between faking evidence to support the war and the the anger (economy, Iraq war, gas prices). The worst job in world after this week, is GOP-ologist.

10. I think it's a great telling line
However, I think we're a more astute and knowledgeable populace now. How on earth he thinks the public won't notice this is just a slap for those who are smart enough to follow this story...present Freeps excluded.

12. In other words, "We've screwed up so much other stuff,
nobody will notice this."

Not an enviable position to be in. Poor George. He was born with a silver spoon up his nose.

He does have a point. American public has a hard time dealing with more than one thing at a time.
