Durbin : Miers "withdrawl was not about documents, it was about Dobson."

Don't buy the document release smokescreen. Her knucke-draggin' conservative critics telegraphed this strategy a week ago.

See Krauthammer's "The Only Exit Strategy"

Hence the perfectly honorable way to solve the conundrum: Miers withdraws out of respect for both the Senate and the executive's prerogatives, the Senate expresses appreciation for this gracious acknowledgment of its needs and responsibilities, and the White House accepts her decision with the deepest regret and with gratitude for Miers's putting preservation of executive prerogative above personal ambition.

3. Well, here's why I think Olsen should NOT be nominated.

Some of the most pressing issues about the war on terra will be coming before this SCOTUS. There is no way that Olsen could be impartial and Constitutional about any of the matters since his wife was killed in one of the 9/11 attacks.

The Dems need to look out for a major NEOCON nomination which is the reason I think the folks like Kristol and Krauthammer were so against Miers. They want someone who will tote the neocon agenda from the ruling on the bench. Believe me, these will mean some matters of peace and war disguised as other issues. The Dems should filibuster anyone with a neocon-PNAC background. Otherwise, the Pentagon will be controlling the Court, mark my words.

4. Please tell me they aren't thinking about Olsen, please not him.
Calculating and cold. And this might even be considered another crony appointment. If I remember correctly, he represented the Bush team in the 2000 elections.
