Offered VP slot--McCain turned down the offer--Rumor
snip>

On the rumor front -- unsubstantiated -- I was told by the source that had said John McCain had been approached by intermediaries about the possibility of accepting a VP appointment if Cheney developed "health problems" that McCain turned down the offer. . .definitively.

1. IMHO BIG BS
McCain would be a 100% shoein going from VP to 2008 President nom. There is no way he would have turned this down IMHO.

would you really want that albatross around your neck? My guess is McCain will run against the bush "legacy" -- fortunately we have those hugging pictures and the "gee george stick your finger in my cake while Katrina heads to NO" pictures saved to our harddrives.

ON EDIT - you are right though, probably BS Rumor

2. Does 'definitively' mean he said "Go Cheney youself?"
Even a rat won't board a sinking ship.

7. I think we heard this rumor days ago...
It's also rumored to be a tough day on the Plame front as Fitzgerald's office reported he planned no announcements today.

Time to start bouncing the old stories off the walls of the echo chamber
