This line says it all re: Reid on Miers
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/10/27/miers.nominations/index.html
---snip---
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, who said he had recommended that Bush nominate Miers, blamed "the radical right wing of the Republican Party" for killing her nomination.

"Apparently, Ms. Miers did not satisfy those who want to pack the Supreme Court with rigid ideologues," the Nevada Democrat said.
---snip---

This was the purpose all along. That one line is the culmination of all of his planning. He flat out knew there would be backlash against a nominee like Miers. Now he can call them out as the extremists that they are.

NOW people, NOW do you understand that everything Reid does is calculated? Now are you willing to give him the benefit of the doubt? When are you naysayers finally going to give a Democrat, hell, ANY Democrat, some credit?

2. I've given Reid props from the beginning.
Be fair though...A lot here have come to see that Reid is very good at what he does.

5. Yeah, some have.
I won't deny that. But far too many have been quick to bash Harry since day 1. Of course, those are the same people who will bash EVERY Democrat not named Kucinich, Conyers, or Boxer, so maybe there's a message there too...

3. I'll give him this one.
Nice play.

I have a mutual friend who I might be able to get me an intro with Sen. Reid. Anything any DUers would like to pass along?

11. Yeah, screw that "big tent" crap!!!
Only lockstep ideologues need apply!

Seriously, I like the Democratic swathe of views, as it were. A little dissent and divergence of opinion keeps the mind sharp!

7. Nope....
I know him, and I don't trust him. I will agree he calculates what he does, but it is always what is best for Harry first, and the rest of us second.
