Subject: US Aid to US Citizens?

The U.S. Government is refusing to assist Americans trapped in Cancun and Cozumel after Hurricane Wilma. My family members trapped there have finally been able to get through by phone and advise they finally, after 6 days, were contacted by a State Dept. representative who advised them it was not the U.S. Government's responsibility to assist them, they got themselves there and needed to get themselves out.

140 other Americans trapped in the Moon Palace Convention Center also can confirm this scenario. The British and Italian Governments arranged for busses to take their nationals to Merida, Mexico where they could get flights home. We have arranged an American Airlines flight out of Cancun for the 140 stranded Americans and our State Department won't even help these people cut through the Mexican Government's red tape to ensure these folks can get to the airport in time to catch their flight. We have thousands of Americans trapped in Mexico at this time and our government has turned its back on them. But we can make sure we get aid to Pakistan after an earthquake.

there are enough angry americans, you'd think they would be tearing down the white house fence to get to the criminals

3. The BushAmerican government isn't going to help mere
citizens anywhere? Are these people "Pioneers"? Are they plutocrats?
If not, they shouldn't expect any help.

4. I bet
the people "stuck" in Mexico were some of the ones blaming the victims for not evacuating NO before Katrina! Now they want the govt to come down and take care of them because they got stuck while on VACATION?! For one thing, it has been shown that our govt can't even take care of victims here in the US, why would you think they were competent enough to do it outside the US?

6. There were also more than a few tourists stuck in NOLA
I kind of think BushCo finally did something about the people at the Convention Center because word got out that there were stranded people from other countries and he didn't want an international incident.

It's also seems bad for the tourist industry in general for people to get stuck places and for no one to help them.

It's NOT a matter of competence - it's a matter of choice.

I expect our gov't to help those in need - esp. in a disaster.

5. It's interesting to know that other governments are able and willing
to help their citizens.

When you think of the money BushCo wastes on themselves... Sheesh.
