O'Reichly attacks Latina columnist; help her fight back!
From: "Hernandez, Macarena"
<MHernandez@dallasnews.com>

Last Tuesday, October 18 Bill O'Reilly started attacking me on his radio and television show for a column published Friday October 14. My column dealt with the dehumanization of undocumented immigrants
and how it doesn't help that there are folks out there, like O'Reilly,
stirring fear and hate.

This is the link to the column that sparked the controversy:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/columnists/mhernandez/stories/DN-hernandez_14edi.ART.State.Edition1.1de4d395.html

(My weekly column runs on Fridays)

He berated me on national television all last week and on Friday Oct. 21st I decided to answer him and his followers in my column.

Here is the link to that column:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/columnists/mhernandez/stories/102105dnedihernandez.1d180057.html

He has been flashing my photograph on his show and asking his viewers to send letters to my publisher (he's posted both of our email addresses on his website) and to me. He has also asked people to cancel their subscriptions to The Dallas Morning News in protest.

My publisher is James M. Moroney III:
jmoroney@dallasnews.com

My editor is Keven Willey:
kwilley@dallasnews.com

My boses have been super supportive and stand by my right to offer my opinions.

O'Reilly continued to attack me last night because he was reacting to a column by fellow Latina journalist Cindy Rodriguez of The Denver Post. Cindy said she had been bullied by O'Reilly last year
and was standing up to him. She wrote a great, great column.

The link to Cindy's column

If you have any questions, please call me.

It's been a great learning experience.

1. I don't think Dems agree with open borders either.
The "undocumented immigrant" label is a hot potato. From one latina to another, Ms. Hernandez, you'd do better to explain your position on illegal immigration before coming to the Democratic party for help. If you're in favor of open borders, I don't think you'll find much support.

5. I recognize that it is a hot button issue, but this is bullshit
He is using a NATIONAL platform to attack a LOCAL columnist. That's like sending Mike Tyson to beat up a third grader who stole someone's lunch money.

Typical Dildo Really!!! Can't pick a fair fight, because he knows he will lose. Go up against someone with a TV or radio show, don't beat up, continuously, on someone who writes a once-weekly column.

The guy is a fucking chicken-bully.

7. Perhaps. Or perhaps you have a conundrum.
Have you ever heard of a tar-baby?

9. You have a right to your views
And I do realize how the immigration issue IS one that crosses party lines. I see difficulties with it myself, but I do not blame the immigrants, I blame the fatcats who like cheap labor with no benefits and no payroll taxes, who do not care that the middle class is getting taxed up the ass because of the strain on the infrastructure, and the pretzeldunce, who has ignored the matter for far too long. As if that will make it go away!!!

I just think what Dildo is doing is grossly unfair, and TYPICAL of him. If some big player with a TV show and a radio outlet took the identical view as Macarena, he'd be a bit more wary about smacking that person about.

It's the bullshit and the bullying that set me off.

11. I know exactly how you feel, and maybe O'Reilly is counting on you
to feel that way too. Maybe he's baiting the Dems the way a matador baits a bull with his red cape?

You're suppose to see red with this issue. I just suggest you learn more about the Ms. Hernandez's politics before you go charging in.

15. I approached the whole issue with NUANCE
Main points: She has a right to her views.

She does not have the platform that Dildo has to respond. His attack is unfair because the playing field is not level and his attack is rather personal--going after a weekly columnist as though she is the devil herself rather than discussing the matter in a mature and thoughtful fashion. Typical Dildo, find a demon, and tear her to shreds.

It is a serious issue, and worthy of discussion--not vitriol.

I didn't write to Dildo, I wrote to her editor, and told him not to fire her because of what an asshole who makes dirty phone calls to subordinates while stuffing a vibrator up his ass has to say on whatever subject she writes a column on.

16. Sounds like you're supporting this on a Freedom of Speech basis.
That's prudent if you frame it along those lines.

18. Not just freedom of speech, FAIRNESS
Like I said, if Mike Tyson beats up a third grader who stole someone's lunch money, that ain't a fair fight. This gal writes a column ONCE A WEEK, while that asshole is on the radio and TV every damn day. He is playing the "I CAN TALK LOUDER AND HURL INSULTS WITH GREATER FREQUENCY, ERGO, I WIN!" game.

He is a cowardly bully.

And, a sick pervert too, but that is another issue!

8. I don't see
her asking for open borders.

Until sensible immigration laws are in place, it's irrational to focus all the blame on those who risk their lives to make a living here.

I live in California and am sick to death of ignoramuses who assume every Latino they see is 'undocumented' - thus deserving of their scorn & bigotry.

I'd like to think that all decent people would consider the laws and the businesses who benefit from the situation as it now is - before they accept robbery, rape and murder as the solution to the problem.

14. My suggestion is to delve deeper than one article before deciding
what is going on here. I know how you feel, because I feel it as well. But I also sense that Bill O'Reilly is trying to hook the bleeding heart liberal sect. Learn more about Ms. Hernandez's politics before deciding whether she's the one you should pick to invest your emotions on.

The Dems will have to formulate a strategy on this issue, but I hope that they do it on their own terms, and not on Bill O'Reilly's.

22.  Politics be damned.
She wrote about brutal attacks on and murders of Hispanics. She did not exaggerate either the biggoted attitudes directed at Latinos or the horrid conditions in which they too often live. She, in turn, was attacked by O'Reilly - the supercillious falafel king of the morals squad.

Racism is alive and well in this country...and the O'Reillys of this world get their jollies off by fanning the flames.

12. And please don't expect people to assume anything based on your
word. Especially not here. Ms. Hernandez's politics is very much open for dissection, especially if she wants assistance from the Dem party, or anybody else.

2. i saw this BS on falafel bill's show
nothing like attacking someone who's not there to defend themselves. and then drawing general conclusions about "the left"

but don't go on his show - you cannot win.

Illegals have already made areas of Nashville, TN look like Bogota, Columbia. Burnt out cars and abandoned, spray painted buildings

And she can put that "Jobs American's won't do" up her @ss!!

She sounds like that asshat we have for a President.

6. Oh really? Why don't you go into the field and pick strawberries
then, or grapes. I'm sick of this Hispanic bashing. Here's comes the Jim Crow laws all over again, and after growing up in the south I'm not ready to see it happening again. Get over it white people, get over it. You are not the chosen race, or the master race for that matter. White man came over here and stole the land. Talk about your illegal aliens! How can you tell an illegal from an American? Most Hispanic Americans live just as poorly because, like blacks and any other person of color they are denied the freedom to live a decent life with some sort of pride.

Next time you go to buy wine from California (big time stolen state!), or fresh fruits and vegetables remember who picked them so you can stuff yourself and bite the hand that feeds you.

4. If it involves Dildo Really, I'm typing up an email!!!!!
Mine started out like this:
Seriously, a guy who uses anal vibrators and makes harrassing telephone calls of a sexual nature to female subordinates is no role model, and his outraged denigration of your fine columnist is, in typically perverse fashion, a feather in her cap.....

Hey, Macarena! You go girl!

13. Write to dildo reilly everybody
Looks like many people who watch the O'Reilly factor seem to be racist. Hernandez says that she received tons of emails that have words like "spic", "beaner", etc. This is what I am going to point out.

17. Ignore him, the putz, write to her EDITOR
and tell him that you either agree or do not agree with her viewpoint, but you think Dildo's attack on her is typical of him--the act of a coward who cannot pick on someone his own size.
