IMO, I pick the first option. This thing was maufactured by the media to divide us, and serves no civic purpose.

1. It's an oversimplification of the reality.

Members of the electorate are not entirely "blue" or "red." Neither do state boundaries designate entirely "blue" or "red" regions. Even if we use this distinction solely for which candidate a state went for during the last election, we can't trust the veracity of the electronic voting machines.

2. I'm with you

it is one of my biggest pet peeves. All it does it divide people. No state is 100% blue and no state is 100% red.
