Why do the talking heads keep saying that Rove isn't being indicted?
Pundits keep on saying, "The president is very happy that Rove isn't being indicted."

Bullshit.

He's not being indicted YET.

I think it's good that Fitzgerald is taking MORE time to look into Rove's complex machinations in the leak and in the lead-up to war. It takes more time to build more charges, and that's what I perceive happening, and why Rove isn't being indicted today.

That certainly does NOT mean that Rove is scot-free.

1. I heard or read somewhere this morning that Rove said
to reporters that he was not going to be indicted. Plus the NYT article says it doesn't think Rove will be indicted today.

whatever,,,,

I am just waiting to hear it from Fitzgerald.

24. If the Grand Jury has been extended, it can only be bad news for
the White House. Ann Coulter actually got this one right.

2. Poor rove...
what a dilemna - so used to using weapons of slime and deception to protect politicos - but now is stuck between protecting self- and protecting his political goal (complete one-party rule for a generation or more).... given a choice of protecting one or the other (self or goal) - which will he pursue? I don't think he is there yet (to the point of realizing there is a choice to be made) - but when there... which choice? I think he is soon approaching a "the lady or the tiger" moment.

10. thanks Maddy
bushco sure is giving us daily doses of real-time irony - all over the place. Sort of have to give in to some dark humor and amusement over it from time to time - or would just giveup given the hand that this administration continues to deal to our country.

:hi:

25. Why would Bush be so cheery about Rove escaping an indictment
today? I hate asking rhetorical questions, but can Bush really be so stupid as to not see that he's Rove's ticket out of the big house?

with Fitzgerald. The slimy little pig is getting out of it.

that he'll get off.

Those guys are made of Teflon.

Sorry -- after 4 1/2 years of this, I'm a total cynic.

9. The only way Karl can get off is if he's talking
and if he's talking to the prosecutor he'll be a dead man walking in DC. Rove has fucked himself like he's never been fucked before.

14. "Big time" cynic here
I don't get excited about anything, anymore. Besides, even if all the squatters were jailed, this country is so irreparably damaged that it's heart stopping to even think about the future.

5. I agree...
I also think any indictments, even if it's only one, is good. It keeps this thing wide open and there will be hearings, trial, etc...

I keep imagining the witnesses getting called to the stand...Condi, Hadley, Powell, Cheney, etc.

Makes me all giggly inside.

It's not over by a long shot.

6. The Talking Heads...
on the BBC are saying that too. I wouldn't place too much faith in that though, the female anchor keeps referring to a Libby Lewis.

is, I believe, a reporter for the BBC - I heard her this morning on NPR, very unfortunate name for a person to be covering this story.

from the White House and Rove, the oil that greases the sleeze machine, can keep on greasing.

11. They keep saying although not indicted today, he'still being investigated
He is not in the clear if Fitzgerald is continuing the investigation as several news accounts have suggested and more people may be in jeapardy as well.

16. I think that since Fitz is such a meticulous investigator...
he was running out of time and knew he would need to extend the jury's term. But to do that, he has to present convincing evidence to the judge that there is reason to extend the jury.

So he went to the judge with the indictible guilt of Libby, and he told the judge that he's working on Rove but needs more time.

Voila. There's his convincing reason to extend the jury.

20. You know, we are really only getting info from lawyers
and 'friends'. Rove says he is not being indicted. The master of dis-information is telling the press that he isn't being indicted...and we believe him. Does anyone see any public jockeying going on between lawyers and PR people?
We know nothing of substance until Fitz is infront of the mike laying it all out. Until then, it's still speculation and spin.

to deflate the whole thing in the media and in the public- "there will be nothing shocking to look at here folks- move along with your day"

23. Is it possible that this is a Rove scam?
Picture this. Rove's lawyers say, "We're not being indicted, but we're still under investigation". In other words, the prosecutor doesn't have the evidence he needs to indict right now.

But Rove gets indicted today. They jump up and cry foul. "He has no evidence, so clearly this is a partisan attack". They will claim this is last-minute politics.

Remember, you heard it here first...

26. A Continued investigation
is not a good thing for Rove. Nor is an indictment against Libby a good thing for Rove. If there is as much avarice between Bush and Cheney camps as is stated, Rove will be a marked man shortly.
Power creates paranoia. It feeds it like a suckling child.
Rove is a marked man.
