So only Libby is going down today? I am so disappointed
If what the MSM and the bloggers are saying only Libby will get indicted today. This is so disappointing to me. I had much greater hope ... that it would involve Rove and Cheney and deep down inside I hoped Bush and that it would expose the entire hoax they played on people that caused us to invade Iraq. Now I hear it's just 1 indictment against Libby - Big deal. I feel ripped off.

1. Fitz isn't stoppping today.
He has just leased more office space, presumably for an expanded investigative staff. Patience, grasshopper.

The New York Times also reported (speculated) Rove will be kept under investigation by Fitzgerald.

Fitz has been asked by 41 members of Congress to investigate Bush, Condilesasta, Rummy and Powell about defrauding Congress and the American people.

very carefully crafted for a good case. If you are listening to any of the news channels they are talking about how Cheney will most likely have to take the stand and how unusual and politically damaging this is for the entire bush administration.

Does that make you feel better? :eyes:

Edited to change number of indictments from three to five, because there were two counts on one of them. There, that should make you feel EVEN better! (Yeah, right.)

67. You called people freepers first
You started it 2 posts higher with this:

"And anyone who's content with "just Libby" might just be from freeperville."

I'm one of those people who is "content" with today's turn of events--for now. I happen to be able to see the forest as well as the trees and I know enough history to calmly assess what has happened and what has not.

By your post, however, you are calling ME and anyone else not frothing at the mouth at ONLY 5 counts a freeper. And even though I wasn't posting in this thread before now, I don't appreciate it one bit. How dare you insinuate that people are freepers just because they disagree with your narrow view of today's events?!

So you're disappointed? Fine. Be disappointed. Your disappointment doesn't change how much good happened today, and where it can lead.

Go cry in your beer if you want. I'll just keep drinking mine. :toast:

54. This feels more real than all
of the silly gleeful predictions by radio personalities, etc. It is ominous in that it reminds me more of the Iran Contra investigations where plainly a bigger fish, and unwilling fall guy, Weinberger, was caught with his notes, and simply waited for his obligatory pardon.

Libby might actually be persuaded to take jail time- temporarily, IF the cover-up in which they all played the same cards, continues to shield those more responsible.

I suppose I will remain grim after so many trips to the easy victory well
coming up dry. Excitement without the due consequences. Yet they nailed a dem president at will for an affair.

The system is SUPPOSED to work this way and much better, not as a miracle, especially an incomplete one. Actual consequences are still poised to slip away from this criminal administration, leaving all the excited people slowly losing steam in the background. Relentless pressure on ALL fronts must be applied or maintained. The same general miasma that kept this balloon from popping for so long can still act as a dull sealant, ugly and marred as it must be, to keep the GOP assault on America intact.

And we know, cowards though they are, they must do what that have to do to survive and thrive. Any relaxation of attack will end up making this disease worse. Where are the consequences? Is the future secure? I am not celebrating yet. This is perhaps a D-Day, not V-B Bay moment, but the beachhead is not yet secure.
