Joe DeGenova just said Wilson wasn't very smart to write an editorial
when your wife is a covert agent. He's one of the commentators on CNN. What an idiot.

5. He actually has a point

If your wife is a secret agent, doing something to raise your profile and invite publiuc scrutiny of your life is not the best way to keep her identity a secret.

Lest anyone flames, I am totally against the war, and believe everything connected to it stinks. But we gotta be honest ourselves.

7. Bullshit.
What raised his profile?

1) Writing an editorial about something you know all about, having been 2nd in command in bagdad and then in command during the first gulf war.

2) Being swift boated from all sides by the right wing.

9. Nope. Sorry.
He was an Ambassador, and had been living a high-profile life. Laying blame at Wilson's feet is spin, RW spin.

10. Like being an Ambassador?
or Director of Africa for the NSC? Or working for the State Department?

All this time she has remained undercover during his high profile jobs. She would still be undercover if Libby et al didn't leak her to the media.

13. Eyes on the ball
Clinton invited trouble by having adulterous BJ's in the Oval office, and then lying about it.

If someone goes on a mission and criticizes the administration on a very secret and sensitive subject, there's a good chance his wife's identity will come out.

It doesn't mean Wilson was wrong, and it doesn't mean the administration's action were justifiable. But we shouldn;t emulate the right wing and try to twist inconvenient facts.

26. Actually, what Wilson did was more setting the record straight
rather than "criticizing the administration," which was using the notion of "a very secret and sensitive subject" to bullshit us into war.

And why would there be "a good chance" of a wife's identity coming out for telling the truth, or even for criticizing the administration? Wilson's a professional, and he was not willing to let the lies pass.

23. I know what I said and I'm sticking to it
I'm NOT defending what the WH did. It should not let them off ther hook.

But I hate "spin" from whatever source. And the plain truth is that by doing what he did, Wilson was taking a risk about the consequences.

16. No, I disagree
Why should anyone have the right to pry into your personal life just because you annoyed someone in power? And if someone found out, even accidentally that Plame was covert CIA, it was their duty and responsibliity to STFU.

And anyways, the RWingnuts are floating the idea that revenge was JUSTIFIED.

18. It's called "living the cover."

The worst thing an undercover agent can do is walk around with a sign hanging over their family saying, "I'm not an undercover agent." Wilson was in a position to write about Niger and he did. He would have done so if Plame wasn't a NOC. His going about his normal business helped to keep her cover intact. Let's not lose sight of who actually blew her cover.

21. Sorry, nope.
If I follow your argument to its logical conclusion, that means Joe Wilson and every other spouse of a covert agent should hide away in a cave on an island off Mars.

IF someone found out about it, they should NOT HAVE LEAKED IT! End of story. They did, now they are receving justice for it.

This administration wanted him to write it. They already had the goods on Wilson and his family. They wanted his argument out there so they can discredit Wilson.

GOP SOP.

8. He didn't out his wife in the editorial.
The point of her being a covert agent is that NO ONE KNOWS who she is, including the fact that she's married to Joe Wilson.

What a dumbassed comment - to be repeated I'm sure.
