I think he's just saying it because he does not want to look too political
He already has Rush and the Right Wing pundits calling him a partisan hack, so he feels that he must be nonpartisan in his assesment.

investigation and any trials coming from them are about whether the law was broken. He will focus on the legal issues and individual citizens need to form their own judgments about the political ones.

46. he seems to basically be saying that he is restricting
his investigation to original charges of outing cia agent
clearly he has information about the war etc because its all tied together

what i am getting from him is that either he cant say anymore publicly or he is not going to be the one who prosecutes this any further than the outing of plame

outside of that it seems he is saying that is not his jurisdiction/his job but i think we can assume he will certainly share the information if it involves any criminal activity

35. No, he has made it clear any new information pertinent to the case
will go before a grand jury as needed. Libby obstructed in the investigation and what will be interesting is whether he will turn states evidence or chance going to trial and fall on his sword. Either way this is not over, imo.

13. won't say if he's talking to defense attorneys
says the indictment is not about the war - don't look to indictment to vindicate how they feel. May have taken place in context over a heated debate over the war, but it won't try to say if the war is or isn't right. No answers about the war will come out about the trial.

Is that he reportedly was also looking into the forged Niger documents and the role of the Italian government and Stephen Hadley. It doesnt seem to have anything to do with the charges brought against Libby. Not sure how it would fit in to the case if it were true.

He doesnt sound like a partisan, makes a point of repeating that "if" the charges are proven. And that Libby is innocent until proven guilty. They would have loved to see Fitzgerald get up on a soapbox but he didnt.

Hell, knowing that Libby tried to save his own ass by blaming the MSM on the leak should be a good reason to spur the MSM into action.

they couldn't get to the bottom of what really happened and whether or not their was an intentional leaking under the act....

Once that is cleared up at the TRIAL...look out! This won't be over for a very very long time! To prove he lied, you have to prove what the truth is... don't forget that!

83. Unfortunately they are asking questions he probably cannot legally
answer. I'm just grateful the questions are being asked so viewers can begin to ponder the possible answers for themselves.

94. As frustrating as it may be, Fitzgerald is spot on.
He is absolutely correct about staying strictly within his jurisdiction and responsibilities. To comment on anything else would be dangerously political. By restricting himself so tightly his actions cannot be questioned.

He's intelligent, articulate, straightforward, and goes by the letter of the law. Just the guy we need for this job. His press conference is great!

Didn't think reporters would be questioned.

89. I honestly think the press is completely out of practice at
asking pertinent questions.

They all seem more interested in projecting their own talking points.

95. Ah, they can't help it, they're thinking like we are
and they want to ask him all kinds of shit they know he won't answer.

But I wish someone would ask about Brewster Jennings, even if he wouldn't answer.

101. I pre-set my vcr to record Fitzgerld but I truly screwed up.
I should have set it to record from MSNBC and not CNN! MSNBC hasn't cut from this once while I heard CNN has and is showing a split screen.
