Based on what we know about his other appointments, it appears that cronyism and loyalty are the main reasons he chooses his people.

I would expect this judge to be partisan. Look at all the work he's done under Reagan and BushI.

Judge Walton served as a Staff Attorney in the Defender Association of Philadelphia from 1974 to 1976. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1976 to 1981 and also served as the Executive Assistant United States Attorney for that office from 1980 to 1981.

Judge Walton was appointed as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia by ... Ronald Reagan in 1981. He served as the Deputy Presiding Judge of the Superior Court's Criminal Division from 1986 to 1989.

In 1989, Judge Walton was appointed by ... George H.W. Bush as the Associate Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Executive Office of the President. Judge Walton served in this position until 1991, when he was named by ... Bush as the Senior White House Advisor for Crime.

Judge Walton was reappointed to the Superior Court bench by ... (Dimson) in 1991. Judge Walton served as the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court's Domestic Violence Unit in 2000. Since January 1, 2001, Judge Walton has served as the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court's Family Division.

5. Dismissed Sibel Edmonds suit
He was the judge in her suit against the FBI for her dismissal. Upheld the DOJ that the facts of the case could expose secrets that could put people in danger. He probably wouldn't like someone outing an agent. Other articles point to Judge Walton as a no nonsense jurist that won't allow grandstanding in his courtroom.

8. I was hoping he would not be a white male.
But I didn't want to read too much into the name "Reggie." Every Reggie I've ever known has been a decent guy.

Here's hoping he is as nonpartisan as Fitzgerald.
