The best thing about the Libby indictment.
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 11:00 AM by smoogatz
It's simple. Libby's indictment--and the ongoing investigation--means that Bushco can no longer do whatever they like with no fear of retribution. It means that the rule of law applies even to them, and the utter impunity they've enjoyed until now has evaporated like Everclear on a Tucson sidewalk. They are now officially under scrutiny--by their own Justice Department, by the Press (such as it is), and by the American people. It starts with Libby and DeLay; Frist will almost certainly have to step down as Majority Leader (at the very least); the Abramoff scandal will cut a wide swath through the Republican congress; more Plamegate indictments are possible. And, most intriguing of all, the Wilsons plan to sue numerous Bushco officials for destroying Valerie's livelihood--that means more subpoenas, more testifying under oath, a lengthy and wide-ranging discovery process, and the prospect of both Bush and Cheney on the witness stand--with none of the secrecy of Fitz's grand jury process. Even if Fitzmas day has come and gone, Santa's sleigh is still packed with gifts for good little Democrats.

1. I guess you're right. This was a gift that keeps on giving, rather than
one, big cash Prize, the Libby case is an annuity that needs to be carefully reinvested so that it continues to pay-off.:)

5. More like mass murderers getting a misdemeanor.
These are criminals, torturers and embezzlers- we should not let this simply get pushed under the rug.

7. Even on DU, folks just don't seem to appreciate the scope of criminality.
I don't believe there's ever been an administration that even came close to the breathtaking degree of criminality we see in this cabal. A 'war' of global corporate predation based on wholly fraudulent 'reasons.' These people make the Viet Nam War look virtuous in comparison!

The rape and pillage of the "lower 90%" in a headlong rush to the resurrection of a plantation economy. Banana Republicans. The indolent and privileged living off the labor of masses of indentured servants and slaves.

Corruption beyond imagining.

4. Don't forget Ney and Cunningham:
not big national news anymore, but still local issues for Ohio and California.
