2. No, not if he's facing 30 years in prison.
Unless he has no sense of self-preservation!

6. Even if he does plead guilty, he can still be called as a witness
in other grand jury proceedings, and if he tries to lie then, they can charge his ass again. It could become a revolving door, that goes well beyond when Bush has pardon authority. And the Grand Jury is an invitation you CANNOT REFUSE.

Just because the Monkey pardons the guy, assuming he does, does not mean they can't haul him up on other charges, or as a WITNESS.

11. Nixon Got a Preemptive Blanket Pardon
I am sure that the current regime will do no less.

It will be necessary to send them all to the Hague.
Pardons don't work there.

12. Are you talking about Ford's pardon of Nixon?
Or are you suggesting that no one did some serious time over that WATERGATE business?? Because you would be mistaken if you thought that.

Tons of Nixons subordinates went to jail--Haldeman, Erlichmann, (the Scooter and Rove of their day), Colson (Nixon's Special counsel), E. Howard Hunt, G. Gordon Liddy...hell, even the ATTORNEY GENERAL, John Mitchell, did time! And the WH counsel (Dean). All in all, it was about forty people that got rounded up in that business, and most went DIRECTLY TO JAIL.

The only one that got a pardon was NIXON, and that is because Ford didn't want to see a former President behind bars. He figured the disgrace was enough.

8. That thought occurred to me too
I don't know what all the legal ramifications of that would be, but it sure would cut down on the legal bills. Politically, I think it's a problem. You're pretty much admitting that there are guilty people in the administration that you're protecting, and as (if) the Niger story keeps gaining traction that could really end up being something you just can't admit.

I think he kinda has to go through the motions on this one. Run out the clock as much as he can, and hope nothing happens to his get out of jail free card (Bush).
